Nifonging the Catholic Church
me ^ | April 18, 2010 | vanity

Posted on 04/18/2010 9:49:35 PM PDT by Judith Anne

I seriously wonder about some FReepers, sometimes. Any other person accused of a crime would be defended by every FReeper as being innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. I've seen whole threads written by men who have been accused of child abuse by ex-wives out to deny them their visitation rights or to wrest more money out of them. These men are rightly indignant, and furious about the unjust accusations that cannot be proven but are never withdrawn.

Yet where are those FReepers when a PRIEST is accused? Where is the presumption of innocence? Suddenly, every accusation becomes a verdict, and not only the accused but his entire organization and all its adherents are held responsible.

I can only wonder what some of these so-called conservatives (who so faithfully defend the Constitution) would do, if THEY were the ones accused! It is a nightmare for any man -- all of you know how even the accusation stains the man forever, even if it is proven false!

Not only that, many here assert that the problems of 30, 40 and even 50 years ago must be tried in the media TODAY!

Remember the Duke rape case? There are more similarities than differences here. The priests are accused, nifonged, and instead of being defended, they are vilified!

What other man of you could stand under the weight of such an accusation trumpeted by the press, and come out whole? None! And such accusations made, LONG after the statute of limitations has passed, sometimes even after the accused is dead and buried for YEARS -- are YOU one of those who automatically, reflexively, spitefully, and gleefully act as judge, jury, and executioner?

Women! What if it were YOUR HUSBAND, YOUR BROTHER, YOUR FATHER, YOUR UNCLE, YOUR SON who was accused? Wouldn't you want the best defense possible? Wouldn't YOU believe in their innocence? Wouldn't YOU help protect your loved ones as much as possible? And yet, YOU JUDGE THE CHURCH FOR DOING WHAT YOU WOULD DO?

Shame! Vast shame! On all who have sinned against the innocent!

I do not depend upon my works. I depend upon the Grace of Jesus Christ working in me. However, if I do not have the works that are indicated by Jesus, then I will be Judged accordingly. Not by my words, by by those of Jesus.

Paul corrected Peter often. It was never the other way around.

How often? How many times? Speak up, we are waiting with bated breath.

Pfftt....

History repeats itself.

My father’s mother wouldn’t even speak to my mother until they were engaged.

And even after years of marriage, my grandmother referred to her as a *stupid Pollack*.

Works merely show that your faith is not just head knowledge.

That’s what James 2 is about.

It is only permissible to change the Catechism

No one here has changed any words of the RCC catechism.

Protestants have gone to great lengths on this forum to quell the baseless ire of RCs by posting the oh-so-official-yet-still-being-revised catechism (remember the Baltimore catechism?) directly from vatican.va.

No one has to change anything. The words of the catechism are clear, especially those which profane the Christian religion.

lol. Your cut-and-paste is just more evidence that Rome seeks to write its own Bible rather than rely on those who were inspired by God to commit it to pen and paper.

My cut and paste are of the Gospels and of Paul. Wide swathes of Bible truth. Where are Reformed truths? Little snippets in which the Reformed play hide and go seek with the truth. I stand unashamed, Dr. E. I stand upon the mountain top and proclaim the Gospels with lights upon me and with megaphones. The real Gospels, and not the Reformed wizened and twisted half truths and outright lies.

You want the Gospels? We have the Gospels and the Reformed cannot handle them. The Gospels are central to the Faith. They are extraneous to the Reformed faith. You've told me yourself that Paul contains the theology and that the Gospels are merely the chronology. You want the Gospels? You cannot handle the Gospels.

Notice the continous emphasis on Judgement and on the consequences...

Most of them couldn’t read.

And most of those plowboys learned to read as soon as they possessed a Bible in their own language (and could probably spell better than I.)

But Rome has always feared a literate congregation who reads the Scriptures.

Useless high school student council members in middle age or old age, with no life, no accomplishments and no worth. Then they have to make believe that God will give them meaning when they have none for themselves. Calvinism appeals to the utterly useless and those with no self worth, or else to those who oppress others and are seeking a justification. Andrew Carnegie and the slave traders are examples of the latter. We see many of the former here on FR.

Most people would think the fact that homosexual/pederast priests are in the closet is a lot uglier than stating that fact.

Yes, John was to take care of Mary as if she were his mother.

He was a good boy.

Nowhere in Scripture does Christ ever refer to Mary as "mother."

He calls her "woman."

And for a good reason. She is no closer to Him or loved by Him than you or I.

I don't doubt the latter, but as for the former, how about producing some proof. The truth is that the Bible was available in the major languages of civilization for a thousand years (Greek and Latin) but it was not until the printing press, that literacy was even possible for nearly 98% of the population. Your theme is wrong, as is the entire Reformed theology and antiCatholic bigotry that you keep posting.

It’s often interesting

HOW ‘perceptions’ change

and WHY! LOL.

Of course, the power of authentic, caring, practical, servant-hearted LOVE is hard to resist.

Bless you and yours as you continue loving in His Name.
