Mormon church gives first lady volume of family history

WASHINGTON -- For the second time in less than a year, Mormon church leaders have met with a President Barack Obama family member in the White House to present a volume of history.

First lady Michelle Obama was presented with a volume of her family history Wednesday morning by Elder Dallin H. Oaks of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Also participating was Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev.

In July, Mormon church President Thomas S. Monson joined Elder Oaks and Reid in presenting the U.S. president with his family history.

"Last year, the church compiled several volumes for President Barack Obama," Reid said. "This year, I thank Elder Oaks for sharing our faith's tradition of genealogical research with the first lady and her family.

"This documentation of their lineage will be cherished and passed on for future generations," he said. "I am honored that the church can play a part in documenting the history of the first family."

Does the family history of Obama include the background of his birth?

Whilst doing my own genealogical research, I discovered that the Mormons loved to inflate their numbers and make stuff up in their own records.

However, the long gone Mormons in my family tree were very useful in government documents because they had odd, made up names, like the Lemonjellos and Oranjellos of today. And I think the Mormons are still at it, making up weird names.

Wonder what my ancestors who fought for independence would say about Obamacare.

From the article, In July, Mormon church President Thomas S. Monson joined Elder Oaks and Reid in presenting the U.S. president with his family history

Two meetings for one with the first couple.

I am into genealogy and have quit going to FamilySearch. When I found so many ancestors being born after the children, I knew something was wrong with their data system. And, I do not think my Baptist ancestors would like to know how they do their thing with them. I like ancestry.com better than any site on the internet. One of my favorite things to do is just type in my ancestor and see what kind of sites pop up for them. Have found loads of info that way. I have over 22,300 names in my FTM.

"And Mormons overwhelmingly support the church's stance on abortion (only in cases of rape, incest or the health of the mother), whereas evangelicals are more likely to say abortion should never be permitted."

Mormons hold peculiar place in politics, survey reveals

Glad I wasn't the only one. I saw that too.

Made up stuff, just to satisfy their quota of furnishing names attached to anyone.

Only about 1% of what they had on my family matched up, and no way will I give them the correct. rofl They may want to "SEAL" me or my family for use on their other planet.

They already have my gggrandpa "SEALED", and he was murdered by a jealous husband. Guess they saw potential.

Could they be aiming for a medical exemption as the Amish and Christian scientists got?

I was looking at their site with my cousin. Much to our surprise he died ten years ago.

They're aiming for something...one of the largest, wealthiest corporations in America if not the world with a religious tax-exemption to protect??? Just one guess.

I wonder how accurate it is? Mormon records can be REALLY REALLY sloppy.
