Is it "Catholic" or "Roman Catholic?" <Vanity><Ecumenical>
Posted on 02/26/2010 1:08:31 AM PST by Gamecock
So I have a question about terminology.
Some of our Catholic FRiends get upset when we Prods use the term Roman Catholic, insisting that the term is derogatory, insulting, etc.
What I would like to discuss is why do Catholics complain about the term Roman Catholic, when the term is in such wide use inside of the Catholic church?
Thoughts?

Tone it down. Antagonism is not allowed on ecumenical Religion Forum threads. Dr. Eckleburg has asked me three times if I have children, twice after I declined to answer, saying I didn't want to personalize the discussion>
Dr. Eckleburg then implies that if I don't have children, I can only hypothesize, and if I do, that I ought to be protecting them. This line of questioning and intimation is needlessly personal, has nothing to do with my correction of factual error regarding Church documents, and I consider it antagonistic. I'd appreciate it if you'd ask Dr. Eckleburg to stick to the discussion.

"
That disbelief is what St. Ignatius' letter directly condemns" Ignatius is obviously not a saint!
If you do not believe that Christ's blood payment on the cross was the totality of salvation, then you are not a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. That is 'Christianity' in a nutshell.

If you do not believe that Christ's blood payment on the cross was the totality of salvation, then you are not a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. That is 'Christianity' in a nutshell. Amen! God became a man to pay for all the sins men could not pay for themselves. That payment is credited to the accounts of all those who have been given Trinitarian faith in Jesus Christ as God, King and Savior.

Pretty good. I’ve lost over 40 pounds of fluid and my hand and legs are back to normal.

And I will point you to a link to an English translation of the 1962 document, at
post 55 on that thread.
Again, the document in question was not written by Cardinal Ratzinger in 2001 as you stated above in this thread.

Wow, this is the first time that you have admitted that all Catholics have had their sins paid for by Christ. Is this an statement that all Catholics are saved?

Ive lost over 40 pounds of fluid and my hand and legs are back to normal. Way to go.
Of course the 40 pounds of fluid would be different than the 40 pounds of fluids we engineering students would drink out of kegs on weekends, I trust.

Whether or not someone has children is very germane to the discussion. How is us having children germane to the conversation about protestant ministers time and time again molesting children in their care? Catholics usually don't leave their children with such men, therefore, your logic doesn't follow.
