The argument is often made that the Catholic Church gave us the Bible, but this could not be further from the truth. Only God could give us the Bible. It was originally authored by Him (II Tim. 3:16) and then preserved by Him (Psalm 12:6-7). The confusion, however, comes from the two streams of Scripture that came out of the Middle East after the time of Christ. The Christians were first called Christians at Antioch, where they diligently copied the Scriptures, and spread them throughout the world. However, Alexandria was the home of scholars who gloried in their knowledge (Jer. 9:24) rather than in Christ, and took copies of the perfect, preserved Word of God and changed them. One in particular, Origen, was extremely proactive in his aggressive revision of Gods Holy Words. His version combined his own works known as the Apocrypha with the Hebrew New Testament in a Greek version (the language of the proud intellectuals of Alexandria). But the Baptist sect known as the Vaudois, were speaking a new language Latin. They translated the pure Hebrew Scriptures into Latin, which became the world language, and carried them across the world. Rome, however, slaughtered the Christians in blatant persecution of these diligent carriers of Gods Holy Word.

That’s a laugher if ever I saw one.
The “catholic” “church” is, perhaps the world’s largest cult - spread through brainwashing that is cultural in nature. Someday, kid, you’ll learn the true nature of your “church” - and then you’ll understand.
You are a Catholic. What happened to you?
Didn’t you used to do the Knights of Columbus ping list too?
Please explain.....and don’t give me the “born again” stuff, because you were born unto Christ when you were baptized in the Catholic Church.
Pardon PrayerMy God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love You. I implore Your pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love You.
Amen.
Did the Catholic Church Give Us the Bible? >>>
of course it did and thanks to the Irish Monks, they kept the bible in print and preserved during the middle ages.
He was posting from a pro-Catholic viewpoint until June, 2009, then wrote a post in July, 2009 about how the Church was driving people away. In August, 2009 he started posting anti-Catholic comments. Also last summer he started making virulently anti-Palin posts.
I don’t visit this website very often, so pardon the delayed response.
What happened? I was able to see just how perverse and corrupt the catholic church can be. Specifically, I witnessed the abusive behavior of a local priest during my wife’s attempt to be confirmed in her late thirties. During confession, he wouldn’t settle for what she confessed - instead pressing forward with accusations of abortions and sexual perversion - demanding she confess to things she hadn’t even heard of, let alone done. This got me to begin questioning the validity of confessing to a sick old perverted man. It also began my journey of discovering just how wrong nearly all of the teachings of the catholic church are. It isnt much better than Mormonism. I am happily attending a Christian church now and feel ashamed for wasting so many years and dollars on the catholic church and silly clubs like the knights of drinking heavily after meetings...err...Columbus.
As for “virulent” anti Palin posts, I do not respect the former governor and stated as much. I will leave it at that.
What’s wrong with Mormonism?
Wrong thread for this discussion. That said, there is nothing wrong with Mormonism.
That is, as long as you’re ok with a silly made up religion based on Masonic rituals.
Sorry that happened for you. You are generalizing, and I believe you know that.
The Catholic Church is not perverse and corrupt as you say.
The sexual misdeeds happen in every religion and in fact, are much less among priests that among teachers and Protestant ministers. Actually fathers are the worst.
I don’t know who fed you this line of lies or if you read a comic book or something, but you can always come back to the church.
You are in my prayers.
I am not generalizing.
My experiences are the sum of a lifetime in that church. That lifetime has been spent in many places, as my former military life involved a great deal of moving around our great nation. This gave me a broad view of the catholic church in America. In looking back, I see that the catholic church’s corruption and perversion of Christianity was widespread and institutional. I’m happier now and I’ve repented for my misguided faith in an institution of man (as opposed to God).
Nobody needs a comic book to learn the truth. There’s no way I will ever return to that organization.
Good luck to you.

Evidently not.

nope? then who did? I know it wasn’t the born-again Christians and not the protestants which where formed about 1,500 years after Christ, so who is left? The one and only true Catholic Church.
