KAYSVILLE -- A first novel for K.C. Grant, 39, has landed this Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints author success in just a few weeks since its release.
"Abish: Daughter of God" (Covenant, $16.95) already has scored a ranking in the top six for books sold at Deseret Book and Grant said a few Deseret Book stores already have sold out of her novel.
"It's fun to have a first novel so well received," said the Kaysville homemaker. "It gives me an inspiration to keep on writing."
Grant enjoyed a successful book signing last weekend in Centerville and has another scheduled for today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Seagull Book in Layton at 448 W. Antelope Drive.
The novel is a mixture of fiction and fact, based on a short account of a woman in Alma, Chapter 19 who did not faint when others were overcome by the Holy Spirit because she had been converted to gospel teachings earlier in her life.
"I think like a lot of LDS people who read the Book of Mormon," Grant said. "Abish is one of only three women mentioned by name in the Book of Mormon and yet there is very little said about her. I wanted to know more about her and possibly other people would too."

Cumorah (also called Mormon Hill) is a drumlin near Manchester, New York, where Joseph Smith, Jr. said he found a set of golden plates which he translated and published as the Book of Mormon. In the text of the Book of Mormon, "Cumorah" (originally Camorah,1830 edition) is a land situated in a land of many waters, rivers and fountains.[1] In this land, one hill is named the "hill Cumorah". The Book of Mormon describes the hill Cumorah as a place where two hundred thirty thousand Nephite soldiers were killed in a final battle with the Lamanites,[2] and where centuries earlier, the last battle of the Jaredites took place, which destroyed their civilization. The hill Cumorah (its Nephite name) was previously called the hill Ramah by the Jaredites.[3]
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church)the largest of the Latter Day Saint churches that use the Book of Mormonhas no official position on the geography of the Book of Mormon, nor is there currently any official claim of correspondence between the hill mentioned in the Book of Mormon and the hill in New York.[4] Numerous LDS Church authorities have, in the past, indicated that Cumorah of the Book of Mormon resides in the Finger Lakes region of western New York.[5] It has been argued that LDS scripture also locates Cumorah in this region.[6] In an 1842 letter to the Church that has been canonized into LDS Church scripture, Joseph Smith stated that the church had received, the gospel truth out of the earth glad tidings from Cumorah".[7] Smith did not specifically refer to the Hill Cumorah in this letter.[8]
A little EDITTING - a few missing ARTIFACTS - Statements from LDS Authorites - you get it ALL, here, folks!
Thank you for bumping the post DD!
Another Mormon post from our single issue poster.
Thank you for bumping the thread II !
The Next Wave - 400 tons of emergency supplies and equipment arrives in Haiti
You keep pointing this out and as I have told you numerous times all posts no matter who post them on FreeRepublic, with rare exception, are about a single issue.
So I can't see what makes Colofornian an object of your obsession. Indeed given the facts they are no different than any other of the thousands of posters here who deal with one single issue every time they post.
Perhaps if we get an example of a multi issue post we could see exactly where the problem lies.
Additionally, lds have already pulled their “doctors” out of the country after being on the ground only 8 days, leaving the heavy pulling for the long term to the ‘gentiles’.
They could find a cure for baldness, but it doesnt mean they arent a cult, now does it?

ROFL. And so very true.
And STILL no response from you on a thread not about Mormonism that Colofornian posted JUST FOR YOU!

We are still waiting....
Sorry, I didn't intend to hijack the thread but I was a catholic for almost 50 years before I was saved by the grace of God and became a Christian, so it filters my response to any false doctrine.
Additionally, lds have already pulled their doctors out of the country after being on the ground only 8 days, leaving the heavy pulling for the long term to the gentiles.

Well, they have already gotten the PR, they can pat themselves on the back about all the “good” they did and embellish it.
Ejonesie posted the Google earth coords the other day for a Christian Church, a park across the street and the LDS church nearby (who bragged about how many Haitians they had living ON THE GROUNDS - not in the chapel - with 25 tents).
The pictures were very telling about who is REALLY helping.
Of course if they were perfect Martin Luther would have been just another in a long line of nameless Priests and men like Charles Wesley would have still been writing hymns in Latin...
But the core ideas are much closer than they are between the apostolic faiths and the fiction of the LDS.
(full disclosure: I was raised Methodist, converted to Orthodox but now attend a Methodist church again for personal reasons)
Who is there in the long haul, not just throwing money and taking pictures for the PR dept., but sweat and time with no strings attached, that will tell the tale...
Panaxanax, how about the fact that every dime donated to LDS "relief" is required to be given to the mormon corporation, and there is NO accounting to the public or the membership for ANY money given in ANY form to the Corporation of the President of the LDS church, thus no proof that these donations go to the intended recipients?
Until and unless you have proof that the funds donated for humanitarian relief to the mormon church are not skimmed to pay for malls and temples, your attempt to cast doubt on other charities is ridiculous.

LOL! Here's what World Vision has to say about what happened in Liberia:
World Vision deeply regrets the alleged violations of U.S. law and the trust of donors and intended beneficiaries, by its former Liberian staff members in connection with this program. We will repay any misappropriations for which we are responsible.
We commend and support the efforts of the Office of the U.S. Attorney and USAID in investigating this case. World Vision continues to fully cooperate with the investigation as it has from the outset, and we are grateful that our efforts have been useful in bringing justice in this case.
Imagine that. Found a problem, cooperated fully and openly with authorities, aplogized to all involved, and laid out an effective plan to prevent future occurences.
I am more fully committed to supporting this group.

Just to funny.
She is a great girl.
You posted at 4 in the morning? Where are you, on the East Coast? LOL
I had a couple of (baptized RC, protestant attending) friends who said that it wasn't that Catholics weren't Christian, it's just that sometimes being Catholic was a hindrance to it.
