I just witnessed a couple of Orthodox posters get kicked off a "Catholic Caucus" thread. I thought, despite their differences, they had a mutual understanding that each sect was considered "Catholic". Are not the Orthodox considered Catholic? Why do the Romanists get to monopolize the term "Catholic"?
I consider myself to be Catholic being a part of the universal church of Christ. Why should one sect be able to use a universal concept to identify themselves in a caucus thread while other Christian denominations need to use specific qualifiers to identify themselves in a caucus thread?
I think annalex was onto something when he said or suggested or reminded me or something that it's about ordered appetites. Our minds and our will are no longer clouded and hindered by appetites and sin.
But the other thing that is holding me up is the strict sense of passion as something "suffered." I don't mean painful, I mean something that happens to one. I mean technically, passion, patient, passive -- all the same root concept.
But in terms of enthusiasm, complete self-investment, well that's another sense and I don't think we lose that. I think we get more of it.
I think only a portion of them had the social star aspect about them early on.
However, it’s not something I would build any kind of Jr doctrine on. Just a musing level conviction I have about such things.
And here I sit falling asleep between words. I’d best go lie down again.
Maybe a shower first.
I can’t?
Watch me.
That’s a huge task . . . one of quite a handful of huge tasks I’ve got on my table.
I’m not willing to do it unless I can do at least a half-way decent job of it. Which, at this point, might require me to reread the whole NT straight through again.
This weekend, my major job is to get my mouth back in working order enough to teach reasonably well on Tuesday.
FR is a great distraction and aid in doing that as it usually is in my life for many purposes.
I did not hire you as my scheduler.
I did not hire you as my sensibilities manager.
I did not hire you as my Mother Superior.
I did not hire you as my resident curmudgeon. Mad Dog does quite well enough at that, BTW. The position is not pen.
I did not hire you as my OB-COM time & energy manager.
Actually, I didn’t hire you for anything.
Your DEMAND is noted. It’s conceivable I MIGHT get to it in your lifetime.
I think my responses to the TEN MEDITATIONS ON THE MYSTERIES OF THE ROSARY is well ahead of that. It MAY be that in those responses that will be touched on in a meaty way. I’m not sure, yet.
For now, this evening,
raspberries to the max for you.
BBBTTTTTT
And this, in a nutshell, is why you blew it. Why you blew the reconciliation that you were championing. Why you blew the attempt at bridging the gap.
Yours. Not anyone else's.

Some say: STRONG EMOTION; OBJECT OF STRONG DESIRE.
Personally . . . not 'merely' a feeling . . . a DEEP, BONE MARROW CONVICTION WITH FEELING that something, someone is
WORTH
MAXIMUM INVESTMENT OF TIME, ENERGY, BODY, MIND, SOUL.
If defined narrowly enough, imho, God Alone qualifies. I wouldn't always define it that narrowly. I think most of us artists have passion about some of the things we create. Of course, some also are in danger of worshiping the creations of their own hands.
I've found myself sometimes selling or giving away pots I thought I might develop too much of an affection for.
Anyway--a shower calls. LUB.
AGREED.
“Indeed all flesh will eventually come, but not the way you mean.. “
I never gave a meaning for that verse, nor do I believe in universal salvation. If I did, I would not have posted that Mormons and JWs are damned unless they repent.
what about the links to the Orthodox Presbyterian Cult which worships Machen and considers him (Machen) God and Calvin as the next in throne-line?
You are asking some fundamental questions which may not be answered in straightforward fashion.
How long have you been a member of the OPC, if I might ask?
Maybe we could get photos of the scars from the bloodletting during the initiation to the coven.
Look for the link on stormfront, if you dare.
What WAS posted was a BLOG posed as a “Official Vatican approved website”.
No intent to offend here, just a little humor to add since we have been all over the place on this thread.
A priest discovered that he would be unable to hear confession on his assigned day, and after checking with all his fellow priests for a substitute, he finally settled on his Rabbi friend. The Rabbi tried to explain to the priest that he was not qualified nor experienced in this, but the priest assurred him he would help him out for the first few minutes and that he would do fine.
They both are sitting in the confessional, when the first person walks in and kneels. "Bless me father for I have sinned." he began.
"What is your sin?" the priest asked.
"I have committed adultery."
"How many times?"
"Three times."
The priest then replied, "Say three Hail Marys and place five dollars in the offering plate."
The next parishioner came in.
"Bless me father for I have sinned." she began.
"What is your sin?" the priest asked.
"I have committed adultery."
"How many times?"
"Three times."
The priest then replied, "Say three Hail Marys and place five dollars in the offering plate."
The priest then turns to the Rabbi and says, "So do you think you can do it?" "Ach, no problem." says the Rabbi. "Go be on your way, I can handle it."
Another woman walks in. "Bless me father for I have sinned." she said.
The Rabbi says, "And what is your sin?"
"I have committed adultery."
"How many times?"
"Once." she says.
The Rabbi tells her, "Go and do it two more times, we have a special, 3 for $5."
“or our forbidding vernacular translations”
The Constitutions of Oxford were passed at the desire of the Catholic Archbishop of Canterbury. They can be found here:

Sorry, MD, but that wasn’t because Wycliffe’s translation was a bad one, nor because Tyndale’s was 150 years later. They didn’t want a few copies among the nobility, but for everyone to read or hear scripture in the common tongue.
Nor was it because it was impossible to print things. They remained in effect until the Chained Bible, long after the printing press and Tyndale’s excellent translation.
Tyndale answered Thomas More’s objections thus:
Excerpts from William Tyndale’s Introduction to
The Obedience of a Christian Man - 2nd October 1528
Let it not make thee despair, neither yet discourage thee, O reader, that it is forbidden thee in pain of life and goods, or that it is made breaking of the kings peace, or treason unto his highness, to read the Word of thy souls health; for if God be on our side, what matter maketh it who be against us, be they bishops, cardinals, popes
Five Objections: Answered
1. They tell you that Scripture ought not to be in the mother tongue, but that is only because they fear the light, and desire to lead you blindfold and in captivity
2. They say that Scripture needs a pure and quiet mind, and that laymen are too cumbered with worldly business to understand it. This weapon strikes themselves: for who is so tangled with worldly matters as the prelates?
3. They say that laymen would interpret it each after his own way. Why then do the curates not teach the people the right way? The Scripture would be a basis for such teaching and a test of it. At present their lives and their teaching are so contrary that the people do not believe them, even when they preach truth
4. They say our tongue is too rude. It is not so. Greek and Hebrew go more easily into English than into Latin. Has not God made the English tongue as well as others? They suffer you to read in English of Robin Hood, Bevis of Hampton, Hercules, Troilus, and a thousand ribald or filthy tales. It is only the Scripture that is forbidden. It is therefore clearer than the sun that this forbiddal is not for love of your souls, which they care for as the fox doth for the geese.
5. They say we need doctors to interpret Scripture [because] it is so hard There are errors even in Origen and Augustine; how can we test them save by the Scripture? We do not wish to abolish teaching and to make every man his own master, but if the curates will not teach the gospel, the layman must have the Scripture, and read it for himself, taking God for his teacher.

We can assume that blog is likewise sanctioned by Rome...
That is a comment about the blog, and you made it.
I've already pointed this out to you at least once...now at least twice.
Must I really post the link to prove it? Are you that base?
