Who are the Catholics: The Orthodox or The Romanists, or both?
Me
Posted on 01/05/2010 9:46:47 PM PST by the_conscience
I just witnessed a couple of Orthodox posters get kicked off a "Catholic Caucus" thread. I thought, despite their differences, they had a mutual understanding that each sect was considered "Catholic". Are not the Orthodox considered Catholic? Why do the Romanists get to monopolize the term "Catholic"?
I consider myself to be Catholic being a part of the universal church of Christ. Why should one sect be able to use a universal concept to identify themselves in a caucus thread while other Christian denominations need to use specific qualifiers to identify themselves in a caucus thread?

". . .
I still dont understand
why people
want to go around,
looking to be offended.
!!!!STOP THE PRESSES!!!!
Strident Vatican Associates
seem to be incredulously
exclaiming
about others
'!!!!LOOKING TO BE OFFENDED!!!!'
I can't imagine or think of
from all of my 63 years of memory
a more screamingly outrageous
case of
Olympic Class
GALACTIC LEVEL
BRAZENLY
Hypocritical Bombast.
Even I,
with my toughened sensibilities
am stunned to my pinky toes.
I better go lie down and recover.

I'm thinking an honest [Roman] Catholic [et al] on FR would no longer have to ask for evidence... ############
Uhhhhhhhhh . . . I suppose there could be several possibilities . . .
--perhaps all the honest, reasonable ones are busy trading their statues in for unshredded Bibles.
--or maybe they are trying to figure out how to replace all the objects of worship with nonobjects--i.e. nonobjects that they can hold and carress reassuringly. The task is proving to be quite a mind bender.
--or maybe the honest ones are busy enough that they aren't really interested in brazenly convoluted, brazenly rationalized, brazenly obtuse and/or brazenly ignorant replies.
--or maybe they are still rummaging in some drawer in the garage trying to find the patron saint of honesty before they can type a congruent, rational post.
--or maybe . . . they just have no interest in facing the HONEST TO GOD FACTS that masses of folks who label themselves as "Roman Catholics" etc. do such deeds . . . with the MAJOR BUREAUCRATIC, POLITICAL, POWER-MONGERING OFFICIALS of the INSTITUTION winkingly pretending that such are to be forbidden . . . as such a huge percentage of them gleefully do the same things with the sheeple under the steeple--errr, under the domes.

I better go lie down. Is your "mental altar" near-by?
To: Quix
Well, as you and your cohort have shown, any idiot with access to the internet can probably find a place to post anything they want.
That would include deluded so-called Catholics, or as we describe them, CINOs. Superstition is a sin, as far as I know.

Amazing for a man who sees everything so black and white. Or, in the case of us fish eating Papal wankers (”New from Popeil - The Fish Eating Papal Wanker - only $19.95”), black and blacker black.

“That she hates the Catholic Church so much she cannot even utter its name?”
Amusing repartee. . .
I perceive that her basic position on nomenclature is more a matter of taking exception to the appropriation of the name with exclusivity, but I do not presume to speak for Dr. E.

No, you may have posted from websites that purport to be owned by individual Catholics, but I have yet to see one that is actually sanctioned by the Church or even an individual diocese or parish. Get back to me if you can find one of these. ################
WHAT A MANIACAL FARCE of mangled, shredded "logic" and shredded organizational, sociological, member FACTS.
################
IF
the
INSTITUTION
of
The Vatican
and associated congregations
REALLY
was the least bit interested in
FACTUALLY,
ACTUALLY,
TRULY,
REALLY,
EFFECTIVELY,
. . .
Disciplining folks
toward
TRUTH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS
in such matters,
THEN
Every bloke on the planet who could read
Would constantly see tons of
admonishments from
THE VATICAN
in print, on the web,
preached frequently from every
Roman Catholic pulpit
Stern admonishments against such heresies.
There would be demands to clearly display
disclaimers of such having anything to do
with Roman Catholicism/the Vatican.
Failure to
CLEARLY DIVORCE SUCH HERESIES
from all Vatican related association
would routinely involve
real or threatened legal action.
We'd see a wholesale
PROHIBITION AGAINST
and lack of evidence
of any such behaviors, actions
ON THE PART OF
officials and priests
of the Vatican and related congregations.
INSTEAD
We see the opposite.
We see every kind of
ENCOURAGEMENT
TOWARD SUCH
IDOLATROUS
BEHAVIORS
As one might expect to see
were such idolatries
in fact,
A
CENTRAL
PART
Of the foundational
dogma
of the organization.
ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN
a tiny fractional minority
of the Vatican documents.
PRETENDING
That the Vatican prohibits, proscribes a list of idolatrous behaviors
based on a tiny fraction of the Vatican documents
while, IN FACT,
most folks on the planet have abundant opportunity to
OBSERVE THE OPPOSITE
IS
OUTRAGEOUSLY
BRAZENLY

If you are referring to Col 1:24, I don’t see any attempt to deceive in Tyndale’s translation. If it is left as he translated:
24 Now ioye I in my soferinges which I suffre for you and fulfill that which is behynde of the passions of Christ in my flesshe for his bodies sake which is the congregacion
then I would apply that the same as the NASB: “24Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christs afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church”
Now, I’m going to claim some special insight into this verse that many theologians don’t have. I spent 25 years in the military. I deployed far more often than I can remember. I couldn’t count the times I pulled my butt out of the sack for a 0130 or 0200 start time. My final deployment to a combat zone was as a 49 year old officer to Afghanistan, and I specifically requested (and was granted) NOT to go to Bagram, where 5000 Americans have 3 hot meals a day and many have private rooms with internet access. FWIW, I was at Sharana and Jalalabad - both large FOBs, but I was too senior to get sent to anyplace smaller.
What did Paul mean when he said, “24 Now ioye I in my soferinges which I suffre for you and fulfill that which is behynde of the passions of Christ in my flesshe for his bodies sake which is the congregacion”?
He meant he was glad he wasn’t a REMF. He was thrilled not to be a REMF. He didn’t want to be a Christian REMF.
And if anyone doesn’t understand what REMF means, google it or ask. A hint can be found here:

In the name of Christ Jesus and in my family’s name, thank you for your service to our country.
Surely everyone knows REMF. ;-D
Your interpretation is plausible, but actually, I think the verse means that AND MORE.

Au Contraire . . . Y'all's altars
are always
[any I've seen or seen pics of]
on an elevated platform.
Or does the Vatican shredded dictionary not reveal that
an elevated platform equal a "stage?"
BTW, That pic looks like it was taken in a huge outdoor worship setting or an arena type huge indoor setting.
I think it's wonderful when that many youth will mass together to worship God. PRAISE GOD!
