I just witnessed a couple of Orthodox posters get kicked off a "Catholic Caucus" thread. I thought, despite their differences, they had a mutual understanding that each sect was considered "Catholic". Are not the Orthodox considered Catholic? Why do the Romanists get to monopolize the term "Catholic"?
I consider myself to be Catholic being a part of the universal church of Christ. Why should one sect be able to use a universal concept to identify themselves in a caucus thread while other Christian denominations need to use specific qualifiers to identify themselves in a caucus thread?
If "open" thread RF debate is uncomfortable to you, ignore them and instead read/post to the "ecumenical" "caucus" "prayer" or "devotional" threads.
I answered this for you in post 3625. Did you miss it, disagree with it or simply ignore it because it conflicts with your prejudice?
In Catholic theology the word "Sacrifice" is synonymous with the word "offering". We carry out this command of the Lord by celebrating the memorial of his sacrifice. It is the thanksgiving and praise to the Father; - the sacrificial memorial of Christ and his Body; - the presence of Christ by the power of his word and of his Spirit. We offer praise, prayers and worship, not the bloody sacrifices of the Old Testament.
Not Tallulah, it was Dorothy Parker. She was at a regular restaurant gathering of glitterati who all played word games, and the challenge was, “Use ‘horticulture’ in a sentence.”
I love that story. (Sorry for the correction—eek—what if you’re right and I’m wrong? Oh well...)
So that's what you say...So let's compare what you say to what the God of my salvation says:
Exo 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
Exo 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God,
And you say we should all come and join your religion??? Why would any person in his right mind want to do that after learning that God has condemned those people that do the things you do???
Heh. She was a heroine. Took her life and virtue in her hands, to save her people...
I always felt slightly sorry for Holofernes. Slightly.
I feel like a battered wife who keeps getting things taken from her.
How do you rationalize permitting slurs as being the responsibility of the recipient, but accusations of lying as being the responsibility of the accuser when the motive of both is to offend?
Algonquin Club, right?
I didn’t research it, and Dorothy Parker is far more believable to moi.
Isn't it awesome that so many heroes suffered and died for our freedom of religion? So many of ALL faiths, and some of no faith, answered the call, sacrificed and died so we could sit here on our chairs and argue like this without being put in jail or killed?
PS, I don't feel condemned....
It would not be even-handed on my part to disallow a non-Catholic the use of the term Romanist for offensive debate unless I also disallowed the Catholics from using the same term for defensive debate. It cuts both ways.
Sources on both sides would be banned by such a ruling like any use of Chick is disallowed, i.e. either as a source or as a pejorative or as a strawman.
I don't think church structure is the ultimate reason for Rome's decadence. There is a church of Christ on earth and the more cohesive and self-aware, the better.
Anarchy is not preferable to a republican, representative government for nations, nor for churches. Accountability to the congregation through the Scriptures by the ruling elders is what matters.
As I've said before, Rome would like nothing more than for every Protestant/Baptist/Reformed/Christian church to be "independent" and beholding unto itself alone. What better way to weaken the opposition? Splinter and disperse. After all, that's how Arminianism began - after Jacob Arminius took his fateful sojourn to Rome and returned to deny the sovereignty of God and to re-assert the free will of men.
We don't need to throw the baby out with the holy water. 8~)
Somebody needs to recommend the Religion Moderator Entity to the McArthur Foundation for a fellowship as long as a journal and socio-psychological book are produced.
I believe you are correct, sir. ;-D
I don't care who you are, that's funny.
LOL!

Yes, the Nobel Peace Prize doesn’t mean anything anymore, but if it did the RM should get it and the million bucks.
Thank you.
Acts 15:15-20 - And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up: That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world. Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God: But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood.
Could you tell me where in Acts and Galatians it says it is okay to bow and pray to idols?
