“These issues are not going away.”

Is is most disappointing to see the number of so called "christians" in this forum who have joined in on these attacks. Their religious leaders have remained silent on these matters.

I suppose that is aimed at Fundamentalist Protestants, the most liberal of whom makes the most conservative Catholic seem like a screaming red in comparison.

So long as the Catholic Church nurses higher criticism and evolutionism in its bosom all its sound and fury on life issues will be for naught.

Indeed. Many “Christian” churches actually teach their members how to attack Catholics. I attended the Youth gathering in Colorado with JPII and there were many hate-filled hecklers with hateful signs at the entrance trying to influence impressionable teenagers. The stuff the “Christians” spewed was awful.

Thankfully, those who attended were so on fire with the Spirit that it was of no consequence. The officials of Colorado said they had never seen such an orderly, respectful, law-abiding multitude.

I’m always amazed that people spew hate and invective in the name of Christ.

Some of their religious leaders have counseled the attacks.

You are the one who had to get the anti-Protestant dig in on the second posting.

Is is most disappointing to see the number of so called "christians" in this forum who have joined in on these attacks.

Stating Scripture to disagree with Catholic dogma on the Free Republic Religion Forum is now seen in the same light as physical attacks. Unbelievable!!! Persecution/Martyr complexes seem to be de rigueur by this caucus and, since the Catholic Church in America today has no idea what real persecution is like, it is what is most disappointing to this Christian.

Indeed, the alarming degree to which some so-called Christians hold on to deeply-held hatred in their hearts toward Catholics amazes me to no end. It has no place in the conservative movement and is a cancer to it.

Catholics should not be surprised or scandelized at attacks, it comes with calling to be Catholic.

time_fulton_sheen

If I were not a Catholic, and were looking for the true Church in the world today, I would look for the one Church which did not get along well with the world; in other words, I would look for the Church which the world hated. My reason for doing this would be, that if Christ is in any one of the churches of the world today, He must still be hated as He was when He was on earth in the flesh. If you would find Christ today, then find the Church that does not get along with the world. Look for the Church that is hated by the world as Christ was hated by the world. Look for the Church that is accused of being behind the times, as our Lord was accused of being ignorant and never having learned. Look for the Church which men sneer at as socially inferior, as they sneered at Our Lord because He came from Nazareth. Look for the Church which is accused of having a devil, as Our Lord was accused of being possessed by Beelzebub, the Prince of Devils. Look for the Church which, in seasons of bigotry, men say must be destroyed in the name of God as men crucified Christ and thought they had done a service to God. Look for the Church which the world rejects because it claims it is infallible, as Pilate rejected Christ because He called Himself the Truth. Look for the Church which is rejected by the world as Our Lord was rejected by men. Look for the Church which amid the confusions of conflicting opinions, its members love as they love Christ, and respect its Voice as the very voice of its Founder, and the suspicion will grow, that if the Church is unpopular with the spirit of the world, then it is unworldly, and if it is unworldly it is other worldly. Since it is other-worldly, it is infinitely loved and infinitely hated as was Christ Himself. But only that which is Divine can be infinitely hated and infinitely loved. Therefore the Church is Divine.

That's parody, right?!?

We are called heretics, to we are not Christians, told we are racist, and when we respond we are told we are conducting hate crimes?

That's funny, no it's pathetic.

Actually it reminds me of the way the protected classes of the liberal Democratic party act.

Bill Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, said the increase may be due to the Church becoming more vocal on life issues such as abortion and homosexual unions.

Is is most disappointing to see the number of so called "christians" in this forum who have joined in on these attacks...

Name one Freeper who has been involved in a criminal assault on a Catholic.

Name one Freeper (who isn't an atheist or a CINO) who "attacks" RCs on Free Republic because RCs are "becoming more vocal on life issues such as abortion and homosexual unions."

Their religious leaders have remained silent on these matters.

Name one conservative Protestant or Orthodox religious leader from the US who supports criminal assaults on Roman Catholics.

Their silence is debatable; to the degree that they are silent, perhaps it is because that they have little influence by which to persuade the sodomites and pro-aborts who are committing these acts of violence.

NYer, so far in this country it is not a hate crime to argue against Catholic doctrine on Free Republic. I think it is OUTRAGEOUS and INSULTING to compare Bible-believing Christians who defend their faith with criminal violence. Who do you think you are?

I’ve been told that I’m not a christian because I am a Catholic. I always ask those morons “Than who the heck has been on that cross on my wall all these years? Jim Belushi?”

From the article: “Unfortunately, it spills over into violence,”

And you wrote: Is is most disappointing to see the number of so called "christians" in this forum who have joined in on these attacks.

This article is about physical attacks. Written disagreement with you or anyone else on a public forum like FR is a different matter. The mods are capable of dealing with inappropriate attacks; I have seen it done.

That leaves opinions and harsh responses that you just don't like. Too bad for you. Boo hoo. Grow up and deal with it or go to to the DU ar Koos where equating such a disagreements with "hate crime" generated physical attacks is the norm, you poor victim you!
