A Protestant Minister's Unusual Sermon on Reformation Sunday
Patrick Madrid ^ | 10/26/2009 | Patrick Madrid

Posted on 10/26/2009 4:16:56 PM PDT by Patrick Madrid

A few years ago, I slipped into the back of a large Methodist church in the area to hear a sermon delivered by the pastor which had been advertised for several days on the marquee on the lawn in front of the handsome Neo-Gothic stone edifice. I really wanted to hear what he had to say on that particular Sunday.

The occasion of this sermon was what Protestants celebrate as "Reformation Sunday," in remembrance of the sad, tragic rebellion against the Catholic Church. Of course, that's my take on what Reformation Sunday symbolizes. The pastor whose sermon I heard that day had a much different view. . . .

And we're still waiting for the proof that Ratzinger, Sr. was an SS member.

He could have been a Zulu warrior too -- as per Dr. E's post #831: "Even assuming John Allen is not the slavish, obsequious fop he really is, show us where he says Ratzinger's father was not in the SS."

So, since John Allen doesn't say that JR Sr was not in the SS, as per the doc's post, that's enough to say that JR Sr. WAS in the SS. Also, since it doesn't mention that JR Sr. was not a Zulu warrior, he may very well be one!

I’ve been called into the transplant center this morning for a possible kidney transplant. I won’t know the outcome of it until later but please have my friends pray for God’s will, no matter what happens. Thank you all. Love, Maryxxx

“First we got to agree on what you call a Protestant.”

I think it is a simple question. I suppose your answer can be boiled down to if you aren’t Catholic or pretty close then yes, you are going to hell.

I take no offense, it’s just that all the theology discussion on both sides of the argument are boiled down to this one question.

I do think that this sort of “one true path” thinking is wrong, and it is interesting that you’ll find it different places - Catholic, and Fundamentalist.

But really, if you want to champion your religion, you gotta have the stick of “you’re going to hell if you don’t convert” or what is the point?

Thanks for an honest answer.

“Semper Reformanda.”

Indeed. I think hell is probably well populated with those who claim God’s rightful place in the judgment of poor souls.

The authors of those two quotes may well have been surprised where they ended up.

They can't seem to abide by the rules unless an "infallible" "alter Christus" tells them to do something. Which accounts for the increase in homosexuality .

That is the most insane post you have ever made...and that's saying a lot.

Which posts would those be?

Pick any at random and your odds will be very good.

Excerpts from the RCC catechism on vatican.va...

There is no such thing on vatican.va.

There is, however, the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

It's more likely this death was undertaken with the family's knowledge since euthanizing handicapped people was fairly common practice in Nazi Germany.

That's a sick accusation born of a common ignorance of the history of the T-4 euthanasia program in particular and of Nazi Germany in general.

No worries, but need to add on to “I think it is a simple question. I suppose your answer can be boiled down to if you aren’t Catholic or pretty close then yes, you are going to hell.” —> And even if you’re Catholic and an evil person — then being a member won’t help you.

In fact I would be calling them Sola Interpretura from now on — as that is what they believe in. And it spills to other aspects, like “Facts in a history book? Lol! It’s not my interpretation (or imagination), so it’s not true. Lol Lol! Prove me wrong and don’t tell me about that book as it doesn’t say explicitly that pigs are not cyan in color. Lol!”

Ratzinger's father was a member of the SS after the SS absorbed German police forces into it.

You have a significant proof problem.

“And even if you’re Catholic and an evil person — then being a member won’t help you.”

Fair enough - we’ll call that the “Ted Kennedy” clause.

I don’t know why folks in different religious sects shy away from stating that theirs is the “One true path”, and all others are going to hell.

Now as a Protestant and Traditional Anglican, I don’t believe that my religion is the “One true path” - I think that what is in your heart is what God will look at. So, you, even though you are Catholic, have the opportunity to go to heaven if God says so - because salvation is not dependent on being Catholic, in my view.

Really, all the hurt feelings and bluster can be avoided by dealing with this simple issue up front.

Of course, James didn’t write his epistle to the Body of Christ, but to twelve tribes scattered abroad. He wrote it to Israel’s tribes. It was not written as a doctrinal treatise to the Body of Christ.

Saints, please keep Marysecretary in your prayers today.

Praise God for His loving kindness toward our dear sister in Christ. May He return her to good health and her loving family and to us who have come to know her as a kind and gracious child of God and faithful witness to Jesus Christ.
