CANTON, N.C. (October 13, 2009)—The Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Canton, N.C. will celebrate Halloween by burning Bibles that aren’t the King James Version, as well as music and books and anything else Pastor Marc Grizzard says is a satanic influence.
Among the authors whose books Grizzard plans to burn are well known ministers Rick Warren and Billy Graham because he says they have occasionally used Bibles other than the King James Version, which is the sole biblical source he considers infallible.
According to the church’s Web site, members will also burn “Satan's music such as country, rap, rock, pop, heavy metal, western, soft and easy, southern gospel, contemporary Christian, jazz, soul (and) oldies.
“We will also be burning Satan's popular books written by heretics like Billy Graham, Rick Warren, Bill Hybels, John McArthur, James Dobson, Charles Swindoll, John Piper, Chuck Colson, Tony Evans, Oral Roberts, Jimmy Swagart, Mark Driskol, Franklin Graham, Bill Bright, Tim Lahaye, Paula White, T.D. Jakes, Benny Hinn, Joyce Myers, Brian McLaren, Robert Schuller, Mother Teresa, The Pope, Rob Bell, Erwin McManus, Donald Miller, Shane Claiborne, Brennan Manning (and) William Young.
During the book burning, according to the Web site, barbecued chicken fried chicken and “all the sides” will be served.
Priceless
that is the kind of stuff that nightmares are made of
I like their cover of Only Sixteen. Coming of age in the Seventies, I didn't find out about the Sam Cook original until later. (I still like the Dr.'s better!)
Most likely a graduate of the Hyles Anderson College. That is who he dedicated his ministry and WEB page to
Stop it! I beg you..
This guy’s WEB site leads me to believe that circle is completed here. This guy is a raving loon. He rejects ‘scholarship’ he rejects anything that isn’t something he learned from either the KJV or G_d himself.
"Please Mrs. Avery..."
You are correct. Lots of words that don’t exists in the original or the translations that we use today
The KJV is neither the first Bible translation (that'd be the Septuagint or perhaps some of the Aramaic Targumim), the first English translation, nor the first Protestant English translation.
Ever hear of the "Breeches Bible?" It is older than the KJV and was used by the Puritans, I believe.
And that is just a “gem” of an institution:

Judge people and organizations by what they do, a genuinely good man will not deliberately do evil; and a genuinely evil man is incapable of doing something good (as in that it's charitable and there is nothing in it for him on the backside).
Is Ted Turner a genuinely 'Good Man'? I don't know, I don't know him, I don't know his heart. That is between Ted and God; not for you nor I to debate.
“And the operator says 40 cents more...for the next...three...minutes...”
I thought Beowulf was Old English and Canterbury Tales was Middle English?
I’ll be hearing that in my head all night now. Thanks. ;-)
The vast majority of Baptists are the nicest, sweetest people you'd ever have the pleasure to meet. And I very much mean the fundamentalist Baptists when I say that. There are liberal Baptists, and liberal Baptists are as cruel as any other liberal who claims to be religious.
Unfortunately, most so-called "Bible scholarship" should be rejected (but I'm not talking about learning to read the originals).
They should be burning Obomba, Holder, Baucus, Snowe, Collins and Specter in effigy as they are, after all, haters of America and organized religion.
We Believe That salvation Is Totally A Gift Of God brought to man by grace through faith, not of works. Salvation is offered to all men, that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins.......
Not a Calvinist, apparently........ :-)
Also, this made me smile......
We Believe That Satan Is A Person
I guess what he's trying to say is that "we believe Satan truly exists" or something similar. I'll cut 'em some slack, though. He's been in business for only 25 years. Dogma usually needs a little more time to develop.
Beowulf is mostly West Saxon with a little bit of Anglian. That's Old English.
