They came, they prayed, they appealed.
Religious leaders from around the world held their own not-so-mini G8 summit in Italy on June 16-17. The Fourth Summit of Religious Leaders on the occasion of the G8, as the meeting was officially called, started with a visit to LAquila, the central Italian city severely damaged by an earthquake on April 6. That will be the venue in July of the actual summit of the G8 club of industrial nations.
Nearly 130 religious leaders and diplomats then moved to Rome where they held two days of talks under the auspices of the Italian foreign ministry. This was the religious leaders fourth annual meeting, following those held in conjunction with earlier G8 summits in Moscow, Cologne and Sapporo.
They were hosted by Bishop Vincenzo Paglia, the bishop of Terni who is one of the founders of the Sant Egidio community and a member of the Italian bishops conference commission for ecumenism and inter-religious dialogue.
Apart from the Catholic hosts, the participants including high-level Muslims, Protestants, Orthodox, Hindus, Anglicans, Zoroastrians, Jews, Shintoists and Buddhists.

How will they move it, if they cannot touch it?
Craziest story was one of the SCi Fi channel where Mossad have the actual Ark and because it cannot touch the floor, Mossad Agents had the Ark STANDING UP the entire flight holding only on to the poles. Now imagine the discomfort when the plane was taking off and landing..it’s bound to break people’s legs.
This sounds like one of those Nigerian email things. How much money has got to be ut up before this fulminates, seven of every kind.
parsy, who has access to the predators.
First of all, it is probably O.K. to touch it now since the “Glory has departed”; i.e., God is no longer resident. Second, back when the Ark was visited by God, the Levites would move it using poles which went through loops in each side.
“...Open the case.”
Wooden poles that fit into brackets on the sides (wood is a poor conductor of electricity) I heard that it is essentially a capacitor. To see an example of how it was carried, there is a program called “Ancient secrets of the Bible”. It is in the intro. I think it was just on an hour ago, dang, we just missed it.
I thought the Ark was to be revealed in Revelation 11:19
And Jeremaiah tells us it will not be remembered or brought to mind.
How's that work?
And when you have multiplied and increased in the land, in those days, declares the LORD, they shall no more say, The ark of the covenant of the LORD. It shall not come to mind or be remembered or missed; it shall not be made again.
They forgot some Baalists and a few Molechites.
The Baalists and Molechites go to the real G8 meeting.
So if some Western journalist says he’s seen the Ark in Ethiopia, what will that prove? They aren’t going to let anyone from the outside world examine it, so the best that could be said is that they have something that could be a (probably very old) replica of the Ark, or could be the real Ark from Moses’ time.
Ichabod is a fictional character (Ichabod Crane .. Washingtom Irving) ...
Yes, that is where Washington Irving got the name!
From Wikipedia:
“In the masoretic version of the Books of Samuel, his name is said to be a reference to the fact that the glory is departed from Israel, either in reference to the death of his father, or of Eli, or a reference to the loss of the Ark. The Septuagint, however, states that his name was a complaint: woe to the glory of Israel. The Codex Vaticanus refers to him as ouai barchaboth, i.e. as I Bar Chabod - I, son of Chabod or No, son of Glory. According to textual scholars[2], this section of the Book of Samuel, the sanctuaries source, derives from a fairly late source compared with other parts, and hence this justification of his name may simply be a folk etymology.”
So actually, I was incorrect. It was related to the capture of the Ark by the Philistines rather than the departure of God from the temple.
IMHO
**I thought I had heard one time, that no one could look upon it or they would die on the spot...**
No one could TOUCH it or they would die on the spot. Read your Bible — it’s there!
Interesting article.
Thanks.
As usual,
a poor sense of sequence and timing seems to be involved in that post.
I believe that the Ark will be found and placed in the rebuilt Temple BEFORE the
abomination of desolation crowds it aside or replaces it.
My speculation is a replica.
God knows. I don’t.
Interesting, in any case.
That’s my feeling.
It just struck me as VERY MUCH the sort of thing God The Father loves to do.
Reportedly, the amateur archeologist who discovered it under Golgotha . . . even made a video tape of it and the angels guarding it. But at last, felt that he needed to leave the tape in the same chamber under the same guarding. That it was all to be sealed up again awaiting God’s perfect timing etc.
Israeli officials were notified etc. etc. etc.
We shall see. Made an interesting story, at least.
After Christ, the Ark is now just a box. A very interesting box - especially if it still has the tablets, etc., but just a box all the same.
