And then there’s Jesus H. Christ, a name I hear often but have little information on.
Good point. I wonder where that came from
I was trying to be funny, but you’re right. I have no idea where that came from. Research called for. . .
I was going to make a joke about yard work.
But I won’t.
Hebrew language has NO "J's"... nor does the Greek language..
I remember the First Commandment: ‘I am the Lord thy God. You will not have strange gods before me’. So, I don’t know what to think. His way, it would seem to me, is the only way mankind could ever get along in harmony. Islam has got to be the Antichrist. Everything Mohammed preached is the exact opposite of what Jesus preached.
Wikipedia actually has an article on Jesus H. Christ, and has links which also explain theories of where the name came from. Said that Mark H. Twain used it, and talked about hearing it years earlier.
I heard that he was name Yeshua, and some how this became Jesus, even though the correct translation would be Joshua
Not quite right. In Hebrew, Jews call Christians "Notzrim," which means "Nazarenes"-- literally, "people from [the town of] Nazareth," and, by extension, followers of Jesus of Nazareth.
Apparently Arianism is harder to stamp out than we once thought.
Then they are not Christians.
Jesus was a jew that had a jewish mother/step-father that spoke hebrew.. hebrew has zero "J's"..
A recent poll claimed that about half of all professing Christians dont believe that Jesus is God, or that the Holy Spirit and Satan even exist.
HUH !!
What a silly and asinine poll.Or maybe they just found silly and asinine people.
If you do not accept Jesus Christ as the WORD then you are simply not a Christian. There for the people are not Christians and the poll is meaningless.
I can claim to be a Millionaire but if my bank balance shows 342 dollars then no matter what I claim I am not a millionaire...
I figure "Jesus H. Christ" came from JHC, a Christogram, or abbreviation for Jesus used by Western Christians that was derived from ICXC, the abbreviation for ΙΗΣΟΥΣ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ, the Greek words for "Jesus Christ."
I conducted a poll which found that 100% of self-professed atheists are in fact worshipers of the Rastazoroastrian deity Axolotl, and think themselves the reincarnated spirits of ancient Smurfs.
Of course, it was a limited sample, but MSNBC will publish it because all atheists likewise fully support Obama.
Aren’t you a great resource :-). Thank you for the info. and tip.
shalom b'SHEM Yah'shua HaMashiach
No one owns the franchise; anyone can believe anything they want to about Jesus. I have yet to meet the person qualified to judge another person’s heartfelt beliefs about Jesus.
