It has been the aim of the Democrat party since they lost the Presidential election in 2004 to subvert the Christian doctrine with the claim that Jesus was a socialist. Their goal is to convince Christians that their Social agenda is morally equivalent with the teachings and life of Jesus Christ. Considering the lack of historical and Biblical knowledge most Americans have, it is not surprising that many have fallen for the misinformation on what Jesus taught (and for whom the teachings were given). These Biblical revisionists have become especially adept at cherry picking Scripture to suit their agenda. Hence, many have come to misunderstand the gospel of Christ by equating it with modern day Socialism.
My first point of contention with the idea that Christ was a socialist, is His teachings and the example of His life. Throughout the time that Christ lived with His disciples, He never worked. Instead he was dependent upon the charity and good hearts of those who surrounded Him. Now that is not to say Jesus was lazy or a bum either. Jesus was always about His Fathers business, and that business was the salvation of mankind. Nowhere in the Scriptures will you find Jesus telling His followers to rely upon anyone except those who were willing to hear the gospel and share what they had. If the people refused to hear the gospel or be charitable, Jesus told His disciples to rebuke them and go to others who were willing to hear the teachings, as when He sent them out by pairs. (Matthew chapter 10)

JOAN BROWN CAMPBELL SAYS GOOD-BYE TO NCC
January 24, 2000
[excerpt] Evidently acknowledging Campbell's strong ties with Fidel Castro, her successor appointed her to spearhead the NCC campaign to return little Elian Gonzalez to communist Cuba. In a flurry of activity, Campbell has traveled to Cuba to meet Elian's father (and with Cuban officials, of course), offered herself for a host of media interviews, convened press conferences, returned to Cuba personally to fetch Elian's grandmothers in a chartered flight, organized another round of publicity events, met with Attorney General Janet Reno, met with sympathetic members of Congress who support Elian's return, and condemned the bad, old right-wing congressmen who wanted to keep little Elian away from his father.
... Since taking the helm at the NCC nine years ago, Campbell has been defending Castro and the world's dwindling number of other communist despots, creating dangerous myths about racial violence, lobbying for socialized medicine, fighting for gun control, touting "gay" and abortion rights, supporting campaign finance "reform," opposing the U.S. military and economic measures against Iraq's Saddam Hussein, condemning organized school prayer, defending President Clinton even the wake of sexual scandal, and ignoring the plight of persecuted Christians around the world.
... "We did not understand the depth of the suffering of Christians under communism," she confessed in 1993. "And we failed to really cry out against the communist oppression. I do give credit to people who called for that and did not get a response, at least from us." [sigh]
... more of same ... ho hum...
For a goldie oldie see my #61... Oh, and Hi! :-)
Hey Bob, nice to see you. I have been real busy and my emails overflow with things to do. God bless and thanks for the input. It is always a pleasure to see you and to read your insights.
Yudan...we are in total agreement on this.
Thank you, OneVike.
Thanks... and same to you.
Since our Florida convention I have had some health problems as well as other bothers; this is just about my first posting since.
I thought he was a Baptist ping. :>)
Well, my prayers are always with you and yours. I do have a blog of my own now, but I don’t link to it for personal reasons. I’ll email a link to you if you like. I will with others also but I don’t post my URL just for anyone, considering all the “DU” types that frequent FR.
Take me off your list.
Baptist ping
I thought he was a Baptist bump. ;o)
I see you seem to have survived the conference and the bloody marys in good form. I haven't seen hide nor hair of gonzo, yet though. :) Hope he didn't stop on the way home to take a nap on one of the Palms' park benches again. :)
And your tag line is right:
2 Thessalonians 3:10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “If a man will not work, he shall not eat.”
1 Timothy 5:8 If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
:-) Can't be too sure; he lost his car keys so I drove him home and back Sunday [I am still paying physically :-( ], dropped him at the main lobby. He did e-mail me that he got home ok... just not sure when. :-)
***And your tag line is right***
Wow! Thanks! On my Win-2000 'puter that GIF would not display - the msg-crawl part, that is, just an empty box. I had lost the link to it. Now on this Vista 'puter it works again! Whoopie!
DO you really think that by adding lots of LOL's after your comment we can't see through to what you really think?
Jesus didn't condemn the rich for simply being rich. Nice try but gross misrepresentation.
No, John was a Baptist.
Jesus was a Nazarene.
;-)
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Whoo hoo! You go girl.
It's about not worrying, it's not about not working for a living.
So you you just sit around all day waiting for God to fill your stomach?
And two of the big 10, fully 1/3 of the “horizontal” commandments,
are about respecting PRIVATE PROPERTY.
Do not steal
Do not envy what someone else has
No, there is NO justification for socialism beyond the members of the Church that is ever mentioned in the Bible.
Maybe someone could help me out, though. I’m doing a little “self opposition” research.
Does anyone know of ANY scriptural justification for the idea that “man is basically good”?
