...Rutten said Wilke, at Putnam's direction, stood on the far left side of the occupied front row and fired at a foam target on the right side of the stage, shooting the arrow across the congregation but slightly away from them....
"I used the practice arrow just as the fact that an arrow by itself your testimony by itself is no good, so you have to have a bow, and the bow is that equipment," Putnam said. "And you have to have a target, and still with all that if you never pull it back and release it then it still does not accomplish its objective."
Our pastor does a lot of nutty ‘teaching tool’ things like this, although I don’t recall shooting an arrow..
I used to target shoot arrows in my front yard growing up in Southfield, MI, less than a mile from Detroit. Geez, I'd probably have a SWAT team ambush me if I tried that today.
And a good thing, too. Those things can kill a person!
"Our family was a little scared," she said. "They can easily ricochet and kill a person. That's happened."
bad judgement sometimes brings judgement day early
Those wacky Pentecostals!
They’ll do anything to get your attention.
As long as he’s aiming for Democrats, then I approve...
I doubt an arrow has ever richocheted from a controlled target range situation and killed a person in a church congregation.
Anyone wanting too could leave.
One man stood up and objected as Wilke drew the compound bow, telling Putnam firing the arrow was unsafe and illegal, according to two parishioners. Putnam told the man to be quiet and sit down, which he did until Wilke drew the bow again....The man objected a second time, after which Putnam said he asked the man to leave. Putnam said the church will seek a restraining order against the man, who he said was yelling and "causing a disruption."Sounds fair to me. Take legal action against a safety conscious, law abiding fellow Christian for being safety conscious and law abiding when you're doing something stupid in church.
Sure, it’s safer in Jolo,WV where they play with rattle snakes Sunday mornings. (would YOU close your eyes when they prayed? ;>)
The guy is perfectly free to leave and join another church.
“Our family was a little scared,” she said. “They can easily ricochet and kill a person. That’s happened.”
Wonder what church he went to previously where someone died in the service by bow and arrow!?

Has anyone yet found what exactly this “point” was the paster was trying to make?
Could he have made the same point with a sling shot?
Whiners.
That was a really stupid “teaching tool.”
At our Cub Scout awards banquet this week, we had a young man shoot six arrows at a target indoors to symbolize the arrow of light award the boys had earned.
Oh yea, they were flaming arrows too.
1 Corinthians 6:1-6Even if the guy that complained did the wrong thing by going to the police in this matter, one would think (or hope) that the pastor would be familiar with what the Bible says about how to deal with such problems. The civil courts aren't the right answer. A restraining order is not the right answer.
Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints? Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life? So if you have law courts dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church? I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not among you one wise man who will be able to decide between his brethren, but brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers?
How can you tell when someone is yelling and causing a disruption in a Pentecostal church?
They are yelling in English, instead of unknown tongues.
