While I don’t think it matters which day is given to the Lord, the Sabbath would have been the 7th day by definition, not the 1st.

Why would anyone joint someone’s religion when they have nothing to say about their OWN beliefs but are obsessed with telling people not to join or quit another?

So you noticed that the mormons do this, too ???

yes they attack the Christians’ belief in the Trinity...

In the virginity of Mary..

In Jesus as the ONLY way to God the Father...

That God has always been God..and not previously a man who became a “god”...

And so on...

And now it seems that the mormons have stolen the Christian attributes and called them their own...

That’s on a par with Algore claiming to have invented the Internet...

But much worse...

BTW If mormons started to think, believe and act like Christians...

They would denounce that sex crazied charlatan, Joseph smith and get rid of D&C 132...

Christians are not wife swappers...

And Christians worship the Jesus of the Bible and not Joseph Smith...

or a “god” woith a harem...

nor mulltitudes of “gods”

Christianity is monolithic...

Mormonism is not...

monolithic = monotheist

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: Deuteronomy 6:4

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 1 John 5:7

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Actually...I HAVE NOT! I don't spend my time marinating my soul in Mormon golden plates or dissecting “prophets”.

My wonderful Mormon neighbors don't tear down other people's religions. None of the Mormons I have met in a 30 year career in a medical profession tear down other people's religions. NO Mormon I have ever met as done this.

I don't see Mormons here on this board tearing other peoples’ religions to shreds.

But...I am CERTAIN that **you** have spent THOUSANDS of researching every arcane comment made by their leaders, and thoroughly studied every verse of their golden plates looking for examples of their claiming to be the way to the Lord.

Question: Why would you spend that much time pickling your brain in their theology?

Yes “the first day of the week” was the day AFTER the Jewish Sabbath...Sunday..

Jesus hung on the Cross from right before the Sabbath began...

(At sundown..6 PM ...)

Jesus died at the 9th hour...3 PM...

There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand. John 19:42

They just laid Him down, dumped a lot of herbs on top of Him and left ...

A grave that was real close that could be used in a hurry...They had to get back to the city for the Sabbath...

Jesus was in the grave from before 6 PM ...Friday...all through the next day...Saturday..and into the THIRD day...Sunday...

Not THREE days later...but the THIRD day...

Now that the Sabbath was over, the women could touch the dead body of Jesus.

The early Christians worshipped on the “first day of the week” to commemorate Jesus rising from the grave on the third day...

That's an interesting tangent...

I thought you'd like that. We were after all talking about people getting into the LDS temple, weren't we?

Well stick around...

Read some more threads...

The first mormon I ever met...

ORDERED my boss to fire me...

because I was a Christian...

And one of my friends had invited her to church...

And the mormon had been affronted..

(How dare that Christian invite her royal highness to a “Christian Church”..didnt she know the mormon was her better...a high mucky muck future “god” ???)

I’ve had mormons cheat me...

Because I was “just” a Christian..

And I’ve been called ugly names...

Because I am a Christian..

Did you know that the mormons have a doctrine that it is OK to kill me ???

Because I am a Christian...

BTW in your many hours of studying Christianity...

Your perfected knowledge of what I believe...

What do you think of the Trinity ????

Who is Jesus to you ???

DU - We just have a more original less modern interpretation than those who have accepted the Trinity as created in the fourth century.

LC - You DO??

Yep, we do, that's why it's called a restoration, God is restoring what was lost.

LC - Amazing!

I can't help what you are amazed at, maybe you should get out more, you know, spend less time behind a computer and more time out in God's creations (maybe we all should...)

I can only testify of my OWN experience.

Gee! I bet you will now spent thousands of hours away from your family and **YOUR** own scriptures looking for some example where a Mormon might have lost his patience and been a tad testy.

By the way....I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT **YOUR** RELIGION IS!!!!

You have spent so much time dissecting on these boards a religion you can't stand that I have no idea what you believe except that is something ( anything?) different from Mormonism.

Is that any way to promote YOUR religious beliefs by failing to promote your own? Honestly, I don't think that is an effective missionary strategy for you or your church.

***Why would anyone joint someone’s religion when they have nothing to say about their OWN beliefs but are obsessed with telling people not to join or quit another?****

When I was young we escaped from an exploding house caused by natural gas. My mother was severely burned.

Would it be wrong for me to warn others if I see their house on fire or should I keep quiet in order not to upset them.

Same with religion.

DU - ...the military will send them on leave for two years (after they extend for two years) ...

LC - HMmmm... Interesting tactic.

Well, tactics are a military specialty, don't you know, they think it's a good deal.

I still speak Chinese and in a matter of months could be fully fluent again. do you think that would be of worth to the military right now? How about in the near future?

Do you know how interesting it is to be in a conversation (for business) with a translator thinking I can only understand what he is saying, and not the guy he is translating for? It's kind of like going to God for answers, instead of some preacher who is interpreting the Bible for you, you get more out of it.

One day I started a thread in the interest of finding out the beliefs of others in a non-argumentative way. There were few responses. People just like to argue religion.

Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.

Reading the mind of another Freeper is a form of "making it personal." Also, do not let the thread become "about" another Freeper. That is also "making it personal."

Eze 3:17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

Eze 3:18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Eze 3:19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

Eze 3:20 Again, When a righteous [man] doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Eze 3:21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous [man], that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul. Ezekiel 3:17-21

Mar 16:15 And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:15, 16

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:18-20

Thus NO MORE “inner sanctum of the temple” and NO MORE “high priest”...
No where in the Bible does it say that, I just gave you the links to where the veil was torn in two. it is your interpretation that there was no more need of a high priest, so what exactly then was the purpose of the twelve apostles?

Hebrews chapters 9 & 10 pretty much spell it out. Jesus' once and for all sacrifice eliminated the necessity of the old temple system and that the true temple is now in heaven.

The apostle were to spread Jesus' teachings and bring the message of salvation to the masses. There is no place in the bible that says they were replacement high priests - none of them were of the tribe of Levi to even begin to quality, in no location were they in the temple before it was destroyed making the atonement sacrifice in the Holy of Holies, no where in the NT are there temples established for them to minister in.

Samuel, remember him? he was the prophet and the high priest... but I digress...

Samuel served in the temple, but never in the Holy of Holies. And if you had bothered to study the OT, you will find that there was only one High Priest at a time.

A gas explosion is not a philosophic **believe**. It is a concrete physical event that can be subjected to scientific analysis. This isn't a comparison of apples to oranges. Your analogy fails because your are comparing apples ( a fruit)( philosophy) with a rock ( scientific engineering principles)

Have you noticed that in commercials and ads that it is rare for a company to mention the name of a competing product or even that an alternative product exists?

From skimming the posts the only thing I know about the religious beliefs of of most of these posters is that they do not like the Mormon religion. At times I am not even sure if they are a vague sort of Christian. ( I don't pay any attention to the dense the theological, escatological, metaphysical arguments)

3 points:

1) There are very few marketers who would recommend even acknowledging the existence of a competitor, ( definitely not mention a name). They would surely recommend that you extol the wonderfulness of your **own** product ( religious belief) and identify it with a name.

2) On another level, how can it be good to immerse your brain in something that many here would believe to be as dangerous as a house exploding with gas? ( golden plates? huh?). On some level that stuff is there to stay forever!

For example: Personally, there are somethings I simply will never touch or investigate EVER! ( Satanism is one.) It would be in my brain forever and it allows Satan to gain access to my mind and soul. Evidently, you think Mormonism is as dangerous as a gas explosion. If so, spending thousands of hours studying their beliefs can not be good for the brain or soul.

3) From the content of many of these posts, I conclude that studying Mormonism must nearly be a full-time hobby for many of these posters. When do they have time to study their own religion? be missionaries for their own religion? and strengthen their beliefs in their own families?
