LDS Church exclusion of members access to their own records 2008
WikiLeaks ^ | September 8, 2008 | WikiLeaks - Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons)

Posted on 12/17/2008 4:58:58 PM PST by aMorePerfectUnion

This document is very brief. It is a screen shot of the LDS Church MLS program showing an individual Member Record screen with an alert box displayed with the following text and buttons:

"Members may not have copies of their membership records. Under no circumstances may membership records be given to anyone other than the bishop or a clerk. Although members may not have copies of their membership records, they are encouraged to have copies of their Individual Ordinance Sumary (IOS) for themselves and any dependent children living at home ("Church Handbook of Instructions," [2006], 145)."

'To print an IOS, please go to the Membership Records panel and click More. Then go to the Print Record Panel and click on Individual's IOS. Are you printing this record for a Bishop or Clerk? Yes (button) No (button) "

Screen Shot...

I am preparing a massive and public lawsuit, and advertising campaign against the church. Part of my preparations include this Court order, signed Nov 26th 2008 by Anchorage Judge John Suddock.

One section of the description of the non-"family friendly" secret lds temple acts has been "x"ed out by me in honor of FreeRepublic's family friendly rules.

"Neither parent shall allow any religious figure to mentally or emotionally prepare any of the three daughters, directly or by inference, to live under polygamy, whether said polygamy takes place in this life or the next. Neither parent shall allow any religious figure to disparage the other parent, directly or by inference in front of the children, or to teach or coerce them in any way, into a desire to be married in a secret ceremony where either parent is not allowed to attend for any reason. Neither parent shall allow any religious figure to remove the girls clothing to rub XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX with oil, or for any other secret acts, or teach them that submission to these types of ceremonies are required to go to heaven. Neither parent shall allow any of the girls to be alone with any religious leader for any reason."

Sentinel,
I hope it goes very well and I’m glad you have a signed court order.

Most people don’t see this part of mormonism. They do a good job of just showing the tabernacle choir and smiling families. Not the rest.

Peace,
ampu

By the looks of what has been taught here it looks like you forgot to check and find out that there is a proper way for members to get there own records.

That WikiLeaks article seemed to fool those who did not check to see if the information left out was important to the truth.

The points left out make the author's assumption to be wrong.

Fred,
you write, “By the looks of what has been taught here it looks like you forgot to check and find out that there is a proper way for members to get there own records.”

No, I just posted an article. I didn’t write the article. If you have additional information that contradicts the software from LDS, feel free to post it.

“The points left out make the author’s assumption to be wrong.”

So, feel free to post those missing points. Otherwise, your post doesn’t mean much.

best,
ampu

I was a high preist and resigned myself and my three daughters from the church a few months ago after finding that some of these "crazy" mormon prophetic quotes were true.

From my experience, I believe you are leaving out quiet a few details.

Generally, there's a pathway to someone becoming as bitter as you seem to be and leaving the Church.
Generally what you don't see however are:
1. Humility
2. Regular Church attendance or attention to callings
3. Fasting
4. Prayer
5. Regular Scripture study
6. Temple attendance
7. Obedience to the gospel
etc...
I won't post the things I do see.
No one who is in harmony with the gospel and especially an active high priest who continually strives to have the Spirit of the Holy Ghost with them; reads a statement by Brigham Young, *gasps*, and runs off to the Lutheran church.

You admit you did not check to see if author left out anything that would make his conclusions a lie.

You also have a history of saying the LDS Church is false, which this article implies.

Many people with an agenda do not take care to find out if the source material is true and complete, just because it has the same conclusion they want.

I say it is the poster's responsibility to check the source or to say that it is not known to be true.

Cult comeback #1....Blame the victim.

...And yes, actually, it was this quote where Joseph Smith claimed to be greater than Jesus Christ that got to me. I was determined to prove someone wrong here on Free Republic during the "Romney Debates"...I checked it out myself IN A FAITHFUL ATTEMPT TO DEFEND THE CHURCH against what I thought to be easily provable slander.

"…I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet...When they can get rid of me, the devil will also go." (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408, 409) - Joseph Smith, during his lying polygamy denial sermon

The problem with the church is the church itself, not MY REFUSAL TO PAY, PRAY AND OBEY !!

".... Lucifer wins a great victory when he can get members of the Church to speak against their leaders and to 'do their own thinking.'...When our leaders speak, the thinking has been done. When they propose a plan — it is God's plan. When they point the way, there is no other which is safe. When they give direction, it should mark the end of controversy." (Improvement Era, June 1945, p. 354)

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

For by thy words thou shalt be justified and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. (Matthew 12:36-37)

Matthew 7:15-16, Jesus Christ: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

I dare you to check it out for yourself, I DARE YOU !

Before addressing the issue of Br. Joseph being a “false prophet”, do you believe this verse says there will be NO prophets?

Fred,

“Do you think that you, as the poster, have a responsibility to check and see if your posting is accurate and complete?”

In short, no. The purpose of this discussion forum is to post articles and discuss. It is not for posters to proof read and fact check the work of those who wrote and published the articles before posting.

If you have facts to add to the discussion, then add them.
If not, we’ll ignore your rants. It works that way. So far, I haven’t seen any new facts that you contributed. I wonder why? Do you just want to complain?

You have to go no further than the screen shot of the actual LDS software to verify that it says what it says. If it doesn’t mean NO MEMBER SHOULD GET A COPY OF THEIR RECORD, then why does it say that???

Wake up. Engage brain. Contribute something of value.

That's one smelly red herring you just dropped.

No it doesn't say there won't be any more prophets, but when they come onto the scene declaring that Christ's words have passed away, I'll know for sure they are false.

Mat 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Mar 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Luk 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

"President Smith then stated that the meeting had been called, because God had commanded it; and it was made known to him by vision and by the Holy Spirit. . . . it was the will of God that they should be ordained to the ministry and go forth to prune the vineyard for the last time, for the coming of the Lord, which was nigh — even fifty six years should wind up the scene." (History of the Church, Vol. 2, page 182).This prophecy was spoken by Joseph Smith in 1835, and recorded by Oliver Cowdery. The fifty-six years were passed by 1891.

Deuteronomy 18:22 (King James Version) 22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

You sound a little like the lawyer who tried to trick Christ by asking which of the commandments was greatest. Like Christ I will say it is to love your neighbor. Right now for me that means rescuing lurkers from ravening wolves by dissemminating the whole story of mormonism. Your Prophets, like Mohammed, have taught to "KILL YOUR NEIGHBORS"...

"This is loving our neighbor as ourselves; if he needs help, help him; and if he wants salvation and it is necessary to spill his blood on the earth in order that he may be saved, spill it. Any of you who understand the principles of eternity, if you have sinned a sin requiring the shedding of blood, except the sin unto death, would not be satisfied nor rest until your blood should be spilled, that you might gain that salvation you desire. That is the way to love mankind." _FLDS / LDS PROPHET BRIGHAM YOUNG(Deseret News, Feb. 18, 1857; also reprinted in Journal of Discourses, vol. 4, pp. 219-20)

“So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit. A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruits.” (Matthew 7:17-20)

Please continue responding, it gives me a chance to uncover more BAD FRUIT for the lurkers.

The members are being told that those that question anything are mentally ill.

And, by extension; that SAME idea is seen in FR Mormon apologists: that any ANTI's are nuts as well!! ;^)

THEY ARE JUST GIVEN OUT IN A WAY THAT YOU CANNOT GET MINE.

The 'way' they are 'given out' appears not to be GIVEN at all! (To those who want a copy of their OWN.)

Appartently just the Head folks (the unpaid ones) get to have a hard copy.

That WikiLeaks article seemed to fool those who did not check to see if the information left out was important to the truth.

I think you might be confusing this with Joseph Smith's pronouncement that he found "Presbyterianism is not true".

True.

They'd probably want a bath first.

(Ever hear of Saul's (paul) experience on the road to Damascus?)
