Prez Herod (post election reflection)
Standing On My Head ^ | November 8, 2008 | Fr Dwight Longenecker

Posted on 11/10/2008 1:39:16 PM PST by NYer

Someone asked what I think of the elections.

First of all, I'm not a political animal. My Mennonite and Amish blood runs deep and true, and their isolationism and natural suspicion of the powers of this world runs deep in me. That is to say, I have never believed in political systems or politicians as anything more than a necessary evil.

That's why I am instinctively a conservative and intensely dislike socialism in its modern form. I dislike it because its followers really do treat it like a kind of religion. They really do think the answer is to make this world a better place rather than making themselves better people. They think that government is the way to change the world, and all they do is interfere in the lives of ordinary people and make a nuisance of themselves.

Socialists are do-gooders. They're not only nannies, they're self righteous, know it all nannies. I had a woman like that in my Anglican parish once. Call her Susan. Susan knew what was right for everyone. She knew how to fix everyone's marriage. She knew how to fix the parish. She knew how to fix everything. She was a gossip, a meddlesome bore and a terrible busybody.

CS Lewis had a witticism about the Susans of this world: "They live for others and you can tell the others by their hunted look." Indeed, and not only was Susan all of the above. She was an insufferable tyrant who would not take criticism and bossed everyone about.

So what do I think of Barack Obama? I think he's a socialist, and for that reason I dislike him and his party and his plans and his policies. Furthermore, I think he is not only a socialist, but a radical socialist who, by his own admission, is driven by an angry agenda against 'white America.' I think he wants to overthrow the status quo and his mantra of 'change' might just as well be a mantra of revolution.

I dislike, fear and distrust him like I did Susan, and as I fear and mistrust all ideologues--not because they believe in ideals, but because they believe in ideologies, and every ideology is actually an idol.

I fear and distrust ideologues because they will do anything necessary to accomplish their aims. Because they believe they are right they do not mind eliminating those whom they consider wrong. Because they are right they will persecute those who oppose them, pursue them and prosecute. They will change laws to allow this to happen and will do so with ruthless efficiency. To get a whiff of the real Obama presidency read up on who his chief of staff will be. Rahm Emanuel is a notorious pit bull--a violent, efficient and ruthless man who takes no prisoners. He will make Sarah Palin's pit bull look like a poodle.

Why do I sense this evil beneath our new President? Because of his pro-abortion stance. Why can people not see that his radical pro-abortion stance is not just a matter of 'ensuring choice for women'? Why can people not see the real heart of a man who is willing to vote four times to not to allow survivors of abortion to have medical treatment, and supports partial birth abortion and all the other horrors? A man who believes all this is 'above his pay grade' is not just a 'supporter of choice' but a man with a hard heart, a duplicitous and cunning man who is willing to order the murder of the innocents in order for his own political aims to be accomplished. He should be compared to King Herod.

Do not be fooled by his perfect dentistry and his empty, 'inspiring' oratory, and do not imagine that he is an 'empty suit' who will drift away after four futile years. If he does what he wants to do, America will be changed forever, and while I hope, I cannot believe that the change will be for the good.

There we are gentle readers: do feel free to disagree!

"Jindal for President in 2012"

You're assuming there will be an election in 2012.

At this point, I'm not even assuming an election in 2010...

Obama has already promised to undo Bush orders through his own executive orders. Pray for the unborn.
