The tentative conclusion that emerges at this point, is that the claim of two Great Reformers, Luther and Calvin, that the Papacy and Islam are the two legs or the two horns of the Antichrist, deserve serious consideration. We have found that both powers fulfil the prophetic identifying marks of the Antichrist. Both powers emerged out of the divided territories of the Roman Empire, both promoted false worship, both persecuted Gods people, both attempted to change the sacred Sabbath time of worship.

I don’t doubt their faith, they’re just a bit too apocalyptic for me.
Granted, but the tendency for liberals is to infest institutions which they hate, in order to destroy them. All I’m saying is Catholics should be very aware.
I guess Luther was off his head too. And most of the other great reformers who studied the Bible and identified who the counterfeit was. It is she who sits on the city of seven mountains....Revelation.
Wikipedia Rome.
Yeah....funny, the Bible says Blessed are those who read Revelation.
I want that blessing.
lol...i just posted that verse too!
It doesn’t matter if they are truly Catholic in a theological sense. Leftists try to infest institutions in order to destroy them. It is their modus operandi.
Anything you want it to say of course. “The Bible Code” is a bunch of nonsense and it can “say” anything you want it to say, according to what you can convince yourself is “the code”.
So was the election.
Benedict is a good and Godly man. Can you guarantee the next Pope will be?
Adventists weren’t the first to identify the counterfeit. Here’s a quote from Bacchiochi’s article:
“For example, Jonathan Edwards, the first President of Princeton University and one of the most respected American theologian, wrote in his book A History of the Work of Redemption: The two great works of the devil which he wrought against the Kingdom of Christ are . . . his Anti-Christian (Romish or Papal) and Mahometan (Muslim or Islamic) kingdoms, which have been, and still are, two kingdoms of great extent and strength. Both together swallow up the Ancient Roman Empire; the (Papal) kingdom of the Antichrist swallowing up the Western Empire; and Satans Mahometan kingdom the Eastern Empire . . . In the Book of Revelation (chapter 16-20) . . . it is in the destruction of these that the glorious victory of Christ at the introduction of the glorious times of the Church, will mainly consists.”
“Shoppers? Are you talking about actual spenders, or just lookers? “
I doubt most of them were there just to look. That said, they’re probably not buying as much. I just bring it up because the MSM makes it seem like no one’s shoppinh, which obviously isn’t true.
But then again so can the Bible...
First, I based my comments about Barack Obama mostly on an alleged interview with MEET THE PRESS that was supposed to have been conducted on Sunday, September 7, by Retired General Bill Ginn. I assumed that the story to be accurate because it was emailed to me by a credible person. But the interview never took place. It was a pure fabrication that originated in a satire piece by John Semmens in the Arizona Conservative.
Luther insisted that Faith in Baptism was a total remedy for sin. No repentance for your sins is required, just stand on your baptism. (This BTW is Luther's teaching. Not that hoary old canard of Faith vs Works - just faith in the power of one's Baptism to immunize one from sin).
Calvin insisted that all men are predestined to be damned or saved. Your free will is not important.
If I were the sort of rote-learned textarian who pored through history looking for the 'two Horns of the AntiChrist' I would go no further than these two 'great reformers'.
Sounds like he just admitted an error in some prior research to me. I find that to be a pretty good quality in people these days.
Tells me a lot about a person.
The papacy as the beast of Revelation and Daniel was taught in Protestantism since Luther, no doubt. I disagree with the other things Adventism teaches, like the IJ, the incomplete atonement, and extra-Biblical authority (EGW).
bttt
By the way, he refers to FreeRepublic in his article which I found very interesting.
Ping to read later
We have a treaty to the effect that all of us will let the other guys do this too.
The deal with the Anti-Christ may be obscure to many Catholics. As I understand it the Catholic opinion is that anybody can be "anti-Christ". The Protestant opinion is that the "AntiChrist" is a specific individual, and there's going to be, as Oprah said "only one".
Obviously if there's going to be "only one" and he's going to darned near kill everybody and destroy the world (the Protestant view), then it's a lot more important to discover who he might be (if he's present in this age) than to worry about a handful of people here and there who do "anti-Christ" things ~ and otherwise don't destroy the world.
It's like Catholics and Protestants aren't even talking about the same religious concept when it comes to the "anti-Christ" and that always makes conversation difficult.
In Luther's time he thought the anti-Christ had arrived in the guise of the Pope. Today we know better don't we.
Yeah, I don’t agree with everything Luther and Calvin said either.
I haven’t found anyone with perfect theology.
But I do agree with a lot of what they preached including who the counterfeit was.
Thanks.
