Women win bloody battle at the Synod

confusion reigns when you dont have a true authority.

Scripture makes good authority. They might want to examine it.

Love the title. “Women” don’t win anything here. Advocates for a post-christian religion win. Real women are generally conservative on matters like this.

So maybe we should just go out and get us an infallible pope then....huh?

Many take leave of the fact that the overwhelming majority of Anglicans do not and will not ever compromise the authority of scripture over secular humanism.

Bad decision.

And while all I know of this Synod is what's posted here, I will note that elements of it (the supremecy of the Zeitgeist) sound very much like the diocesan Synod that eventually resulted in my leaving (P)ECUSA.

Scripture makes good authority.

Says who?

In a nutshell, my friend. Wow, and in only two words!

Yikes.

I couldn't resist clicking on the link which said "Church of England Protestant again". Amidst all the high fiving and rejoicing about this vote to allow women to become bishops, as an onlooker, one can't help but get the same feeling one would get when watching people filing gaily aboard the Titanic, waving to friends and loved ones, completely unaware of what awaits them.

The rejoicing by the Telegraph hacks and those quoted seems to be largely due to the fact that they've flipped the bird at the Catholic Church, rather than at having apostolically reenergized the Church or returned to doctrinal sanity.

Amidst all the high fiving and rejoicing about this vote to allow women to become bishops, as an onlooker, one can't help but get the same feeling one would get when watching people filing gaily aboard the Titanic, waving to friends and loved ones, completely unaware of what awaits them.

Interesting analogy. This, like the approval of artificial contraception at a previous Lambeth conference, is another slippery slope down which people slide. I came across the following post at Fr. Dwight Longenecker's blog yesterday and considered posting it as a thread. Instead, I will post it here and leave it up to Sionnsar or Huber to weigh its worth. IMHO, the author has succinctly summed up the situation.

Women Bishops Debate Goes On

Here's a defense of women bishops in the Church of England. The author, Jane Hedges, was ordained in my diocese when I was an Anglican priest fifteen years ago.

Notice the drift of her arguments: they are based on three things: utilitarianism, sentimentality and politics.

The utilitarian argument is, "Women priests do a good job. People like them. They'll be great bishops."
The sentimental argument is, "Jane is such a nice person. She is so spiritual. She is a great Christian. It would be so hurtful and so unfair not to allow her to be a bishop."
The political argument is, "This is a question of equal rights. Women have been oppressed by the powers of patriarchy long enough."

The proponents of women's ordination once tried to make their case from Scripture and theology and tradition. I think they still try to, but for the most part the utilitarian, sentimental and political arguments prevail. Somone once observed, "In the sixteenth century the Protestants threw out the authority of the Pope in favor of the authority of the Bible. In the twentieth century their own liberal scholars undermined the authority of the Bible. Now they have nothing left but their own opinions."

Really, seems like they are answering only to themselves.

And misinformed selves at that. They have no used for Jesus Christ or the Bible.

In a word: SCHISM!

Yep, real women want nothing to do with this politically correct nonsense.

Once you let "social justice" into the church, God goes out the door. Because these people elevate liberal political causes ABOVE God Himself.

No faithful woman OR man wants to be a party to that.

I predict we will be seeing a number of high-church Anglicans swimming the Tiber . . . and their corresponding evangelical/low-church Anglicans heading for the new African church.
