URGENT Anonymous Prayer Req for FREEPER Wife's Desperate Alcohol Problem
FREEPMAIL | 13 MAY 2008 | Quix

Posted on 05/13/2008 8:44:39 PM PDT by Quix

DEAR ONES,

IF any of you have suffered at all at the hands of Alcoholism in any form via any connection, then you may well know something of the traumas involved between and behind the hubby's words below.

I believe that only The Grace of God AND great persistent dogged efforts on the part of all concerned can bring victory in such matters.

PLEASE pray with me in behalf of this whole family . . .

--that the wife will decide deeply and comprehensively to be done with such an addiction, affliction, oppression . . .

--that her family members will be led of Holy Spirit in how to relate to her in redemptive ways vis a vis thick love yet insisting on her share of responsibility being born by her . . .

--that God become first and foremost in each individual's life in this family and for the family as a whole . . .

--that forgiveness flow easily and freely but not in a cheap grace sort of way . . .

--that Love in it's best forms rise to the top in each individual and in each relationship in this family . . .

--that each individual have the Grace of God; the resilience; the endurance, the doggedness, the patience; the firmness; the overcoming-ness; the courage; the pluck; . . . whatever it takes . . . to win out entirely for each individual in this family . . .

--that God would bring around each member of this family all the local support; prayer support; understanding; encouragements needed;

--that the professionals at the rehab center be anointed in their work . . .

--that the fragments of this family will be recombined in a stronger than ever whole . . .

--whatever else Holy Spirit would lead to pray

HERE'S HUBBY'S WORDS:

==================================

. . . to post a prayer request for my Wife. She has just gotten through the DT’s due to alcohol. It was a very, very bad episode this time with text book hallucinations, erratic behavior.

I had to have her removed from my house and secured in a psych ward last Wednesday evening (very late evening). She is a very good, loving woman who is battling alcoholism.

Tonight, she agreed to re-try rehab after I told her I could not support her decisions any further. She is still fighting and I still have faith in her (had to do the tough love thing, I’m a wreck inside as of the moment).

Would you mind posting a thread for her for prayer requests?

If you could do so, I offer my thanks. I love my wife and have made some very bad decisions when it has come to her recovery. I hope that prayer can help both she and I heal and fight this disease.

All;

Here’s a FREEPMAIL

from the beloved hubby.

Please Praise God with me for his faithfulness in caring for his wife in such a challenging situation.

And, MB, et al,

please note how much he appreciates the prayers of all and the caring shown on this thread:

His Freepmail, to me:

= = = =

Thank you so much for attending to that most comforting thread. If you have a moment later (as if I have not asked for enough already), would you please thank everyone for me? I’ve read the thread twice now and as of this moment simply weep with relief that she is back in rehab and that there are so many that care and I can turn to with questions and seeking input. FR is an amazing place and I cannot tell you how much I am glad our paths crossed.

Thanks Quix. And I am very sorry to hear about your father. He is in MY prayers and I pray for his full recovery.

Here’s another urgent prayer request anonymously FREEPMAILED to me:

My father-in-law learned today that he has cancer of the prostate. He is eighty-one-years old. Because of his age, his treatment options are minimal. He will soon have a CATscan and a bone scan.

He’s a retired Southern Baptist Director of Missions, having started over twenty churches during his career. He is a man of God, who has given his all to Jesus.

He is a husband, a father of four children and a grandfather of thirteen. He is loved by his family and friends, and by his Father in heaven.

We, his family are not yet ready to let him go. We love him so. If you could pass this onto anyone who would remember him in prayer, it would be greatly appreciated. We pray that the cancer will be slow-growing, that he will have many more years with his family, that he will be kept in comfort, and that God will remain with him.

Lastly, if his time has come, we pray that he will be welcomed into the loving arms of God.

= = =

INDEED.

My dad now 84 almost died of prostate cancer some years ago.

believe that A MORE EXCELLENT WAY

by Henry Right has a LOT to offer cancer patients.

Prayers and hugs all around, in any case.

There’s some simple thing that’s been shown to be devastating to all kinds of cancer—Oh, I think it’s baking soda . . . directly applied . . . now getting it to a prostate would be some trick . . . .

One might research the net on it.

Prayers in any case.

While I understand your point, it is a point of release. They can choose jail at any time. Remember that government cannot intervene with religion, but has every right to use it or not use it as long as Congess makes no law. That's the deal.

Most choose freedom.

I pray that Al-anon is considered. Without it and the Grace of God, I would be nuts still.

My husband has been recovering for 24 years now and we have a life that we never dreamed possible. In August we will be celebrating our fiftieth and we are thrilled.

Heavenly Father, look with compassion on these dear people and lead them to the tools that will make their lives a true reflection of your love, we ask in Jesus name. Amen

I suffer greatly from this problem. the madness is totally impossible to explain to those whose lives are not touched by this.
there is no person that can cure us. only God as we understand him.
I try to describe too my kids what it is like to break the cycle. Its like trying to hold a basket ball under water for the rest of your life. I attend 10 to 15 meetings a week and they do help. so at the start of every meeting we have a moment of silence for the alcoholic who still suffers in and outside the room. I will pray extra hard for hubby wife and his family. please be well and God bless

It's hard not hopeless

Quix is unable to respond any further to this thread. He has been called a troll and banned by the mods, even though he posted well within the rules. Very sad indeed.

Prayers Up for recovery.

(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)

You may have a point as to AA as a condition of parole, but there are jail/prison inmates compelled to go to AA meetings while in the lockup. There is no choice, you go and get your ticket punched. That's wrong no matter how you slice it!

Which causes me to remember another quibble I have w/ AA:
Their assumption is that 100%, across the board, you will never get better, and you are doomed to relapse if you stop attending meetings. While that may apply to some individuals is is most certainly in error about the majority who can learn from past mistakes. As was pointed out in this thread, there are cases where people have gone from an over the top, binge drinking life style to totally tea totalers and then back to "social" drinking without back sliding into there old habits. I would consider that to be playing with fire, however, some people can muster the self control and more power to them. Mandating meeting attendance without an exit strategy amounts to preventive detention in that you are being punished for crimes you have yet to commit!

The word "punished" may seem a bit strong but I submit that an open ended compulsion to attend meetings ad nauseam is hardly on anyone's social calendar.

Regards,
GtG

Thank you,
