LDS vs FLDS. Just for the record...

Some Mormon women sing...

Some Mormon women dance...

Some Mormon women write scary stories...

Some Mormon women have a lot of money and really great hair...

I know hundreds of Mormon women. They do all kinds of different things and live all different kinds of lives.

This woman served as a leader in the Mormon church. She recently spoke to teenage girls worldwide. She encouraged them to stand up to peer pressure, strengthen their families and serve others. (Click here for more.)

None of the Mormon women I know look like this...

None of them are marrying off their teenage daughters and-- although some may joke about wanting a sister-wife (preferably one who is really fat & ugly, does bathrooms and changes diapers)--none of them really want to share their husband with anyone.

Furthermore...

Some Mormon guys can throw a ball...

Some Mormon guys yell at the ball...

Some Mormon guys make scary movies...

Some Mormon guys have a lot of money and really great hair...

I know hundreds of Mormon guys. They do all kinds of different things and live all kinds of different lives.

This is one of the leaders of the Mormon church. Last Sunday he spoke about honoring women, especially mothers, and gave advice to husbands and children about how to treat the women in their lives. (For the whole story, click here.)

None of the Mormon men I know look like this...

The Mormon men I know are honest and hard-working. They don't cheat, smoke, drink or gamble. And TRUST ME....the last thing any of them want is another wife.

The leadership of the church knows the whole story, and they are ashamed. They lie, cheat, steal kill and even bomb (salamander letters incident, downtown SLC during the 80's) to keep the whole story from the membership at large.

You and I have been allies on many a thread, but things just don't hold up after a little reading.

The entire foundation of the church crumbles with just a little honest bravery and a couple hours of reading. AND I UTTERLY REJECT THE NOTION FROM THE MODERN DAY E-DANITES THAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH ME OR MY TESTIMONY !!!

Joseph Smith, Brigham Young and others said what they said and did what they did. Good people in the church now do not change this, and behind closed doors, high priests and above openly admit that Smith and Young were kooks, and that only "faith promoting" portions of their stories and history should be shared with members of the congregation.

Who says we are ashamed of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young? I for one am not.

Are you PROUD to admit that Joseph Smith and Brigham Young took young teenagers as their multiple wives?

Does your heart swell with pride when you read statements like this one from Brigham Young?:

You see some classes of the human family that are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly deprived of nearly all the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind. The first man that committed the odious crime of killing one of his brethren will be cursed the longest of any one of the children of Adam. Cain slew his brother. Cain might have been killed, and that would have put a termination to that line of human beings. This was not to be, and the Lord put a mark upon him, which is the flat nose and black skin. Trace mankind down to after the flood, and then another curse is pronounced upon the same race–that they should be the “servant of servants;” and they will be, until that curse is removed; and the Abolitionists cannot help it, nor in the least alter that decree. How long is that race to endure the dreadful curse that is upon them? That curse will remain upon them, and they never can hold the Priesthood or share in it until all the other descendants of Adam have received the promises and enjoyed the blessings of the Priesthood and the keys thereof. Until the last ones of the residue of Adam’s children are brought up to that favourable position, the children of Cain cannot receive the first ordinances of the Priesthood. They were the first that were cursed, and they will be the last from whom the curse will be removed. When the residue of the family of Adam come up and receive their blessings, then the curse will be removed from the seed of Cain, and they will receive blessings in like proportion. (Journal of Discourses, 7:290-291)

Why does God look so favorably upon the prophets in the Old Testament who had more than one wife? Abraham?

He was told his descendants would be as numerous as the sands on the beach, and the stars in the sky. Isaac (later Israel) have several wives.

David also had multiple wives. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob find exceptional favor with the Lord, yet they were polygamists.

I do find it interesting about David however. He had multiple wives, yet still lusted after a woman he couldn’t have: someone else’s wife.

What I have come to understand after much pondering was the composition of Jesus bloodline .

The need for plural wives and concubines which from the world point of view might seem heartless toward women.

For me I come to understand that why some women could be wives why others were concubines.

Those who were under the covenant could be married as wives and those who were outside of the covenant was considered concubines.

David and his wives and concubines many was a very rough patch and questionable character such as prophet Hosea who took Gomer the harlot as a wife.

Hosea 1
2 The beginning of the word of the LORD by Hosea. And the LORD said to Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great whoredom, departing from the LORD.

THAN IT OCCURRED TO ME THAT HOW JESUS TOOK ON THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD WHICH WAS COURSING THROUGH HIS VEINS WAS HISTORY OF THE DNA OF ALL THAT HAVE BEEN TAKEN PLACE ON THE EARTH AND ONLY THE GOD WOULD KNOW WHICH HOW TO INCLUDE THOSE WHO WERE NOT UNDER THE CONVENANT THROUGH PLURAL MARRIAGE AND CONCUBINES.

SO IN THE MERRIDIAN OF TIME ALL WOULD BE REDEEMED THAT ACCEPTED THE GIFT AND TO KEEP THE LORD’S COMMANDMENTS.

BTW
Something funny happen to my word so it might look like all caps but when I tried to turn off caps it would not change need to find out what happen

I don’t question, rather follow how our Lord did not look favorably upon those actions when David sought multiple wives and concubines, same with Solomon, same with Abraham when God would provide,...the list goes on and on.....

***Don’t know. That is up to God.***

Nice PC answer. God tells us what is required to avoid his wrath, and Salt Lake City doesn’t have the answer.

Don’t confuse our disgust with the Mormon doctrine with how we feel towards the Mormons.

If I didn’t fear for their souls I wouldn’t be hanging out on these threads.

Some people on this thread clearly despise Mormons.

Perhaps you should point out who you think those people are.

I have no evidence that Clara May Jeffs was related to Rulon Jeffs.

Carla May Jeffs was born in Salt Lake City in 1903. Rulon Jeffs was born in Salt Lake City in 1909. Jeffs is not a common name. I suspect that there is a genealogical connection.

With all the Mormons on these threads, I suspect there is someone with a subscription to ancestors.com who could find that connection. It should only take a genealogy buff about 5 minutes.

I would be quite surprised if there was no relation.

All of the OT Saints either cheated, told lies, were murders, etc.

So the big question is why does God look favorably on any sinner?

Let me throw this at you.
Mat 22:23-30 KJV
(23) The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
(24) Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
(25) Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
(26) Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
(27) And last of all the woman died also.
(28) Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
(29) Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
(30) For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

So Jesus said “No marriage in Heaven”. The women is not married to anyone in Heaven. Now let’s assume Jesus was right. If so, how does that change our perception?

Jesus always changes our vision of what we believe.

“”So the big question is why does God look favorably on any sinner?””

Eph 2:4-10 MKJV
(4) But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love with which He loved us
(5) (even when we were dead in sins) has made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are saved),
(6) and has raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus,
(7) so that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.
(8) For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God,
(9) not of works, lest anyone should boast.
(10) For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.

"Mat 22:23-30"

FWIW, I know their pat answer.

"... they neither marry, nor are given in marriage..."

Mormons will tell you that Jesus' words don't exclude earthly marriages carrying forth into the afterlife, only new marriages being made once there.

It's typical wordplay and is, of course, wrong.
