FLDS Parents Could Face Charges for Abandoning their "Lost Boys"
KCPW News ^ | February 14, 2008

Posted on 02/22/2008 9:11:12 AM PST by Zakeet

They're called the "Lost Boys," the teenagers kicked out of their homes and communities by leaders of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to ensure there's an ample supply of single, young women who will one day become plural wives. Representative Lorie Fowlke (R-Orem), is running a bill to make this abandonment a felony.

"Estimates are that we've had more than 1,000 children - primarily in southern Utah - thrown out of their homes," Fowlke says. "What we were trying to do with this bill is criminalize this behavior and send a message to this community that they can't just throw away their children."

H.B. 23 adds child abandonment to the definition of child abuse, and makes it a felony crime. It also adds an enhancement if a parent or organization benefits from the child's abandonment to further an illegal enterprise, such as polygamy. This is the case with the FLDS church, says Roger Hoole, a lawyer who represents some of the displaced young men and sits on the board for the Utah Association for Justice. He says the church benefits from kicking out young men who would compete for plural wives. This, he says, has devastating consequences.

"There's a huge impact that's coming, like a tsunami, that's going to hit the state of Utah, when these boys get a little older and realize what has happened to them and get angry," Hoole says. "There's a real problem here."

Fowlke's bill gained unanimous support in a Senate committee this morning, and now heads to the full Senate for consideration.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The mormons are obsessed with Joseph Smith’s sexual sins...

And hoping to commit their own...

It’ll never happen...

There is no “marriage”, and no orgies, in Heaven, or “terrestrial” or “celestial”

If the mormons want to find the Celestial City, it used to be in China...

Therefore, if a man marry him a wife in the world, and he marry her not by me nor by my word

Who cares what some old dead guy thinks ????

Joseph Smith has been dead for 160 years...

He’s not running things...

And has no say in who marries who and whether of not people go to Heaven...

And the past wicked opinions of Joseph Smith did not come from God...

EXCUSE ME??????????????????????????

Apology accepted.

BTW, your exclamation point button is broken. Your exclamation points are all bent out of shape.

But thank you for apologizing.

Same old garbage, different chapter. Why can’t you be original. I’m not gonna fall for your stuff, so get something new!

Given the Mormon propensity for changing/hiding revelation and history...I understand your desire to hear something different (you are used to constantly hearing something different)...

But...sorry, the truth always remains constant.

The Truth shall set you free!

The changes are in the database. That includes the method of inquiry.

At the moment, "comments" will bring up replies on all forums, intermingled. But we will soon again have the ability to see "comments" by forum.

Second, do you really want to get into a discussion about whether all the prophets have been correct 100% of the time as man would understand?

Yes...I would like to get into a discussion about whether all the biblical prophets have been correct 100% of the time as man would understand.

Do you have an example of a biblical prophet that has not been 100% accurate as man would understand it? If so, please provide.

Are you conceding that Joseph Smith was not 100% correct of the time as man would understand?

What is the value of a prophet that is not 100% correct of the time as man would understand?

Can we not agree that the requirement of 100% prophet accuracy was mandated in the Old Testament in order that the people could determine whether or not the "prophet" was actually speaking from God.

If man cannot/would not understand the alleged prophet, doesn't this negate the ability/make it impossible for this biblically/God-ordained test to be applied and utilized?

(Thus, any so-called prophet could prophesy anything under his own authority...There would be no accountability in regard to the truth.)

It would be good to see you write some.

You asked for it...you got it:

Lavina Fielding Anderson, editor of the Journal of Mormon History, wrote, "I was shocked and disgusted to discover that Joseph Smith married a fourteen-year-old girl, fully consummated that marriage, and concealed it from Emma. My image of "prophet" did not accommodate this kind of behavior. I could not begin to find holy motives for such behavior" ("The Garden God Hath Planted: Explorations Toward a Maturing Faith," Sunstone, October 1990, pp. 26-27).

Face it, OMm...Truth is truth whether you like it, or not!

Are you still denying what Mormon historians accept as fact (that 37 year old Joseph Smith married 14 year old Helen Mar Kimball, among other teenagers)?

Are you still claiming that this piece of history is a fabrication of an anti-mormon (pro-Christian) author?

First of all, the papyri were in that Chicago museum for all the world to see for some time,

This is laughable if it wasn't so false and dishonest of a statement. The papyri was stored away in the museum archives and not on display. Had it been openly displayed, it would have been recognized far sooner.

Joseph’s translation was never discredited.

It was discredited almost from the start. By the year 1860 the science of Egyptology had advanced to the point where some people felt that it could be used to test Joseph Smith's ability as a translator. The printed facsimiles from the "Book of Abraham" were submitted to Egyptologist M. Theodule Deveria. Deveria not only accused Joseph Smith of making a false translation but also of altering the scenes shown in the facsimiles. Key point of fact was that 'books of breathing' were VERY common, so common that the alterations were immediately noticeable. By 1912 multiple true Egyptologists had shown that Smiths interpretation of Facsimilies 1, 2 and 3 were completly wrong and spurious.

I’ve provided the links w/ expert views & explanations on the veracity of Joseph’s fascimile’s. Read.

Those links are from worthless sources. How about providing REAL Egyptologists huh?
