I’ve searched the web to see what the mormon church was doing to directly aid both the ‘lost boys’ as well as the girls/young women of the FLDS. It seems that the mormons don’t want anything to do with them (hence the turn to ‘goverment’ to solve it) because they are from FLDS.
Seems only Christian churches and ministries are stepping into the gap to aid these young people as they are ignored by mormons.
Ignore it and it will go away.....
We often see here boasts of the charitable giving of the LDS church. It does seem that for PR purposes alone, providing for these children would be advantageous, doesnt it? Of course, that would mean speaking the "P" word.
Polygamous leader Jeffs sent to Arizona to face charges
The Associated Press Article Last Updated: 02/26/2008 09:52:35 AM MST
Updated: 9:51 AM- PHOENIX -- Polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs is in the custody of Arizona authorities to face a new trial on charges alleging he arranged the marriages of two teenage girls to older men. He already has been convicted in Utah.
I wasn't going to say that with the hope that mormons were responding to this problem and that I had overlooked mormon efforts (besides calling on the gov't). Still hoping.
Surely NOT!!

Text: "Let us reach out, to rescue those who so need OUR help; and lift them; to a higher role, and a better way."
Still waiting to see what mormon churches are doing to help.
God's Word is clear on both how He looks at sin, sinners, those who reject Him, and false prophets. Looking to others to justify the behaviors of sinful man does not remove guilt nor its consequences. What does God say about sin, sinners, those who reject Him, and false prophets?
Mark 2:1317 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector's booth. 'Follow me,' Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him. While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's house, many tax collectors and 'sinners' were eating with Him and His disciples, for there were many who followed Him. When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw Him eating with the 'sinners' and tax collectors, they asked His disciples: 'Why does He eat with tax collectors and "sinners"?'
On hearing this, Jesus said to them, 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.'
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost. Luke 19:9,10
"To as many as received Him, He gave the right to become the children of God." John 1:12
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8
John 8:
23 But He continued, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I AM the One I claim to be, you will indeed die in your sins."James 1:14-15
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. 15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
Galations 1:6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!
Jer 14:14-16
14 Then the LORD said to me, "The prophets are prophesying lies in my name. I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them. They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds. 15 Therefore, this is what the LORD says about the prophets who are prophesying in my name: I did not send them, yet they are saying, 'No sword or famine will touch this land.' Those same prophets will perish by sword and famine. 16 And the people they are prophesying to will be thrown out into the streets of Jerusalem because of the famine and sword. There will be no one to bury them or their wives, their sons or their daughters. I will pour out on them the calamity they deserve..."
It was banned in 1890!.
Thank you for your INFORMATIVE post, Elsie. I hadn't read the entire Manifesto before, and, therefore, did not know that the motivation to cease polygamy was to ensure that materialistic gain could not be taken.
It appears that information is in error.
Indeed.
What do you mean?
Did you watch the video? These women claim they were abused, emotionally and otherwise. They were no longer “allowed” to have a self. Everything about their “lives” was about the “them” of the group. These things contradict what Old Mountain Man stated about polygamy not being abusive to women; it is. They said they were like dead inside. That’s abuse.
The women were there to serve the man like slaves in a harem...
White slavery...
the moslems use to do that that...
Joseph Smith had more than 30 “wives” that he committed adfultery with...even the legal wives of other men
and under-age girls....that’s rape..and sexual abuse..
Brigham Young had about 50 “wives”...and also some were very young...
Both of them were sexual predators...
They have a lot to answer for...
They believed that if they didn't remain in a polygamous marriage, according to Joseph Smith's own words, they would be damned. So...even if/when they leave, they are afraid they will go to hell because they rejected staying in a polygamous relationship.
But they didn't want to live that way and felt it was also wrong. One woman moved me to tears concerning her personal anguish about her eternal salvation, not knowing "what is the truth" concerning God's will on polygamy, seeing as how "the prophet" joseph smith "prophesied" that "plurality is of the Lord." This is way beyond the emotional scarring which results from the false teachings that "unless they are in a polygamous relationship" they will be damned, and "unless they are in a polygamous relationship, they never could be exalted to associate with and become gods." (as per joseph smith). And that "unless a woman is sealed by a husband, she won't go to heaven," either. (I am paraphrasing, but that (and other things, such as being in a controlling atmosphere/relationship) is what was discussed by these women.)
Also comparing how everything with LDS was about "joseph smith," and were shocked how, when going to Christian Churches, everything is always Christ-centered, songs to Christ, worshiping Christ, etc.
I hope the BIG letters didn't get in the way of YOUR comprehension!
It seems that, for some reason, most LDS Organization&Reg; members cannot SEE those words.
One of the women in the video had 14 children...
They were treated worse than brood mares...
And here’s a question..
If the idea behind the “plural wives” is to have multiple children, would it not behove the mormons to marry the ypoung women to young strong men instead of unhelthy old guys ???
The children of young men would be healthier and stronger than the children of middle-aged guys past their prime...
Survival of the fittest always relies on the mating of the abliest to the abliest...not too young females to males with suspect sperm volume and quality..
It would appear that mormons systematically reject the wrong group of males from the gene pool...
A little forthought would greatly improve the herd of mormons ..
It's truly disgusting.
They have a lot to answer for...
To those whom much has been given, much will be expected.
lolol! No...I wasn't distracted at all. I don't know why some people CAN'T SEE THOSE WORDS!
: )
Yes....I agree with you. OMm is wrong on this one.
I gave him a couple of opportunities to change his position but he didn't sieze on them.
But...Why would a non-FLDS Mormon defend polygamy as being non-abusive?
