More recently he has developed a friendship with Prof Hans Kung, the respected theologian.

Oh dear. Respected by dissidents, that is...

Huh? Hans Kung is a dissident Catholic.

But isn’t he also pro-abort and pro-homo?

Areas that he must cover before he can become a Catholic include the Creed, prayer life and the Church's doctrine.

I would think a few years spent studying the Church's moral teaching would also do him a world of good. Right now, he'd fit in with the all the "Catholics" in the Democrat party.

Show of hands...how many would love to read his autobiography on just such a spiritual journey?

My hand is up...first.

But isn’t he also pro-abort and pro-homo?

That might explain the Cardinal advising him to chill out for a while...until he gets his bearings. Otherwise he'd have thrown to the lions, as it were...

Dissenter is not the term I would use for Kueng.

What? Blair didn't wear his purple tie when visiting the Pope? The prime minister must have forgotten it back at Number 10.

Despite being asked by Cardinal Basil Hume, the previous Archbishop of Westminster, to desist from receiving Communion because he has not converted to Catholicism, Mr Blair received Communion from Fr Michael Seed while he was at Downing Street and from Fr Timothy Russ and Fr Walsh at Chequers.

I thought CoE is in communion with the Catholic Church?

It is not and never has been except for the brief period during the reign of Queen Mary that the Church was re-united with Rome.

Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, the Archbishop of Westminster,

He's another one who can't retire fast enough, IMHO, and has probably blocked Anglicans from coming into the Church for decades now.

He has made a few good anti-cloning statements lately, but on the whole, he's terrible.

You know a man by his friends and Kung was invited to dinner by an old friend and colleague shortly after the friend got a new job. Private dinner and long discussion yet. Good friends don’t always agree on everything, but they remain friends.
