But all of the Protestant crimes pale in comparsion to the that of the Roman Catholic Inquisitions and Crusades.

The Crusades were defensive actions against Islam -- do you support Islam?? Islam had conquered the Christian lands of North Africa, Egypt, Libya, Syria, Anatolia (Turkey) etc. etc. and was forcibly converting people. The Western world reacted when pilgrims to Jerusalem were getting killed and when the Moslem rulers burnt down the Holy Churches in the Holy City.

You support them, the Muslims?

The Crusades were not defensive wars against Islam.

They were attempts to claim what wasn't Rome's right to claim, the Jewish land.

And when they took Jerusalem they proceded to murder Jews by the thousands.

Why not just take a look at the map.

Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, some of Iran, Turkey - most of Asia Minor, the entire north and much of the west coast of Africa, up the Nile to Ethiopia, and Spain and Portugal were all conquered by the Moslems.

In 1526, Suleiman conquered southern Hungary, from his bases in Bulgaria, and three years later sailed up the Danube, conquering as he went. He laid siege to Vienna and was beaten off by winter and a coalition of forces. As they left, they maximized damage to the city and to the countryside.

In 1683, Vienna was again besieged and it took the combined might of all the West to finally push the Moslmes out of Central Europe. You friendly neighbourhood Turks.

It is very easy and beguiling to judge the brutality of former ages by the standards of our own time. So Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton were all utterly despicable scoundrels because they had slaves. So the Crusades were of no redeeming character whatsoever because the barbarians (my forebears) who were still writing poems in praise of werewolves and of mothers who sent their sons to be tested and, if found wanting, slain by their kin, did many terrible things while they also attempted to turn back the Muslim tide.

"No man is a hero to his valet", not because there are no heroes, but because some people envy the great and therefore choose to see only flaws.
