You don't seem to grasp the concept, do you? Even the Apostles themselves sinned, why would you think their successor would be without flaw?
Indeed - we see this illustrated in the Bible when Jesus renames Cephas to Peter, institutes his Church, and then a few minutes later calls him Satan. All humans sin, even those the closest to Christ.
