The only way you can lose the gift of eternal life is to wipe out the work of the cross. It is already done for you. You can choose what Jesus did or choose a life of always working for approval and never quite knowing if you have done enough for it. It's so sad. If you think you can lose it, you never had it in the first place.

Then why did Jesus tell those on His left hand (who believed in Him) to depart from Him into the fire prepared for the devil and his angels? It was because they did not feed the hungry and thirsty, clothe the naked, visit the sick and those in prison. "As you did it not to the least of these, you did it not to me." Matthew 25:31-46 If it was all about just accepting Jesus, those on His left would not have been condemned. It is because they did not do what Jesus commanded: Love one another. John 15:12 As James says, faith without works is dead. James 2:26

What about sinning against the Holy Spirit? It's an unforgiveable sin?

I don't see your interpretation of 'if you think you can lose salvation, you never had it' in the Bible, FWIW.

If you think you can lose it, you never had it in the first place.Kierkegaard much?

In seriousness, isn't there disagreement among Protestants about this? I am certainly drawn to Kierkegaard and that line, but I always remember Bunyans line which is more or less "Then I saw that there was a way to hell even from the gates of heaven."

I'm not fighting here, just wondering: what do you make of Peter denying Christ in terms of this question?

So you are saying, then, that once saved or "born again" you can go out and commit any kind of sin at all and it counts for naught?

Utter nonsense to me.

We are responsible for our decisions to act in certain ways!!!

Do you live in America under American law??

Then you should understand this say kind of responsibility toward Christ and your faith.
