"Octoberfest"

Octoberfest??? I just came back from Munich and witnessed Octoberfest first hand. Heavy drinking is certainly a better alternative to Holloween. sarc.

By the time you're done imgagining all the ways God might be offended it'll be a sin to let your kid have a chart of the solar system on his bedroom wall because the planets are named after false gods.

" It is beyond my comprehension why some people get so upset with someone who is only trying to do the "Biblical Thing"."

Oh, I can answer that for you. Happy to help. It's because that type is never just happy to do the "Biblical Thing", as they have every right to do. They don't get their rocks off unless they can tell the rest of us how awful WE are, at the same time. :) That's where the real jollies are, for them.

And I can still say - not a real big problem in Northern Virginia. Your area may differ.

The Church of Satan claims not to believe in Satan at all, "nor Jesus nor the Easter Bunny". They just hate Christianity so much they adopt the Satanic name. I think of them as Evolutionists++.

The Church of Satan always comes off as a joke that went to far.

Bob Larson and a few others have tried to build this notion that there are Satanists in every city plotting evil things. It's a very exciting notion to a lot of people which is why Bob Larson was so popular. As it turns out, there are very very few people that call themselves Satanists and they are not really very interesting.

The real dangers to Christianity are fruitlessness that comes from "The cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches and the desire for other things".

And the grand traditional question “Trick or treat?” has become a means for fulfilling an indulgence in sweets, without the need to resort to the optional coercion. We embrace what this holiday has become, and do not feel the need to be tied to ancient practices. This night, Satanists smile at the amateur explorers of their own inner darkness, for we know that they enjoy their brief dip into the pool of the “shadow world.” So on this eve of magic and mystery, we encourage their tenebrous fantasies, the candied indulgence, and the wide-ranging evocation of our aesthetics (while tolerating some of the chintzy versions), even if it is but once per annum.

I would call that a genuine Anton/Zena Levey, Nikolas Shreck spell. Unfortunately it has worked on you. This spell was an effort to take away a fun and meaningless day away from you and you failed your saving throw. The spell had full effect on you.

Another example of this exact same kind of manipulative spell is what liberals are doing by outing a gay Republican to keep conservatives at home.

Lets stop and consider how we are being manipulated by people when we let them toss us about like "a wave of the sea driven by the wind and tossed".

I think it's a proper thing to evaluate if we're offending God.

Act 24:16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offense toward God, and toward men.

You've also clearly missed the point of most of my posts if you think that I'm advocating removing planet charts because they're named after false gods.

Or was that just another joke at my expense?

It's what worhippers/practioners of the female entity do, not what they say.

I don't see a lot of difference between that and associating the modern celebration of Halloween to long forgotten historical references.

It never was Christian to begin with. My Christian faith -Orthodox - tells me to avoid the pagan...no matter how sanitized it seems to you in your denomination. There is absolutely no reason to in any way celebrate such a day alongside practitioners of pagan beliefs.

But you enjoy the festivities.

The Church of Satan claims not to believe in Satan at all, "nor Jesus nor the Easter Bunny". They just hate Christianity so much they adopt the Satanic name. I think of them as Evolutionists++.

It seems that you don't really understand how Satan works. He's not going to come across as a big old boogey man to win converts. There's a few principles you would do well to acquaint yourselves with:

2Co 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2Co 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

First principle: Satan, and his ministers, can appear to be righteous ministers to those whom know no better. A good example is those who preach that there's no such thing as sin and that God isn't concerned with issues such as homosexuality, adultery, and other sins between "consenting adults".

Mar 8:33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savorest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.

Satan is concerned with the things that concern men. In other words, he's going to focus on exploiting human nature. Lusts, greed, envy...all are hallmarks of the natural man and these are the things that keep us from God. Satan knows that the more he can ensnare us in these pursuits, the more we'll stay away from God.

Point 3, Satan is a master of deception:

Mar 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

He deceives the whole world, and would deceive the elect if that were possible.

The Church of Satan embodies these principles. They focus on man, on his carnal nature, on his desires. These are the same guiding principles that Satan employs.

Perhaps you should go back and read the article and the posts from various people defending the points made therein. However, if you're not a Christian, or if God's not calling you, then you probably aren't going to see the difference. That will change one day.

to have always a conscience void of offense toward God, and toward men.

The point of the article is to create offense toward God in the conscience of people who previously had none.

The point of this article is to inform people that Halloween is a day designed to draw people away from God by leading them to thought patterns and ideas that God abhors. It's ulitmate intent is to build love toward God and others by showing them that God has a plan and a way of life that leads to true happiness and contentment.

Getting offended at God because he expects obedience is like a child getting mad at his parents because they tell him that he can't have candy till he finishes supper. It's childish behavior.

All it does is create fear and doubt where none existed before, and where there is no reason for there to be any. Whatever Halloween was is long gone. All the article is doing is trying to resurrect a boogie man.
