Dr --> I would say that you have the right to ask questions: that's what the Church encourages. However, Protestants, by being cut off from the Church, are also cut off from the learnings of the Doctors of the Church who asked the same questions you are asking and debated these and you can see all the viewpoints on this, the arguments for and against, instead of seeing only your point. This would enrich your knowledge and help you in your quest -- it certainly has helped me.
Protestants, by questioning blindly and not learning from past mistakes get doomed to repeating ancient heresies: once thought long dead.

The ancient heresies are the heresies committed by the Pharisees while in the Seat of Moses. These same heresies have been repeated by Rome while claiming to be in the Seat of Peter. The Catholic Church has its own body of tradition that functions exactly like the Jewish Talmud. Jesus clearly condemned the traditions that the Pharisees had added to the Law of God. The RC Church has repeated this mistake.
