The Prophetic Hurricane Strikes Again
American Vision ^ | Monday, September 12, 2005 | Gary DeMar

The prophetic prognosticators are at the prediction game again. Greg Laurie, author of Are We Living in the Last Days?,” is peering through contemporary events like Hurricane Katrina, earthquakes, 9–11, and the tsunami that struck Southeast Asia on December 26, 2004 and claiming that these events are a prelude to the “rapture” of the church. George Noory, host of “Coast to Coast AM,” follows a similar line of thought. “I don't think there’s any doubt. I think we’re really in [the end times].” We’ve read about similar predictions for centuries. Nearly 20 centuries of predictions of the end have yellowed and grown faint with the parchment and paper they were written and printed on.

I have to admit that the Bengals did look decent yesterday. The Browns had moments of brilliance too. Time will tell how both of these teams play, and whether either one has the goods. They both have some good talent, but talent alone does not a football team make.

The Bengals drive at the end of the 1st quarter was textbook football. That convinces me that their offense has some ummpf.

Their defense was ok, but many are saying the Browns weren't firing on all cylinders. The test in Central Div will be the Steelers.

Could you hurry please? I'm in the path of Ophelia...

Me too! Do you think the media is just a tad jumpy about this one?

I thought the defense on both teams was a little weak, but the Browns were weaker than the Bengals there. The Browns offense was able to find holes in the Bengals defense, and the Bengals offense was all over the Browns defense like a cheap suit, unfortunately.

The OS Buckeyes threw a game to Texas in the last quarter....no national championship this year. But it was a pretty even match.

Makes no difference since USC is going to run the table again. too much talent and speed for anyone to handle. As usual, their toughest games will be against other PAC-10 teams. No one else has a chance.

There's a difference between Premillenial and Dispensational. The former has far more credibility than the latter.

All dispensationalists are generally Premills, but all Premills are not Dispensationalists.

I think Big 12 football, year in and year out, is the best in the nation....and has proven so.

USC probably is the best in the nation, however, they would be unwise to ignore what takes place elsewhere, particularly in the Big 12.

I understand that, however, you miss the point about the millennial kingdom out of Jerusalem.

Thanks.

Will try to catch up with it later at home. Still at the college and will likely go for Chinese food and some Chinese chess at the China Buffet.

Yep, postmill. As are lots of the Calvinists and Grammarian.

You'd like it, x. It's hopeful and encouraging and urges a continuation of the Great Commission as a current responsibility for all Christians.

Postmill holds that the earth is good because it is of God and will grow in sanctification so that eventually life will truly be "on earth as it is in heaven."

All knees bowed to Christ. If we don't believe that's possible as God's will, it makes it much more difficult to achieve.

What better way to neuter the Christian imperative than to deny it exists?

An excellent short link to what Postmillenialism is and isn't is found here...

Also checking to see if you caught the TV series reference.

I can't tell if you did. If not, you're probably in your 40's or less.

Between threatened hurricanes and that anthrax terror alert a couple of years ago, my wife cornered the market on Spam, Dinty Moore stew, plastic sheathing and duct tape. Thank God for the food pantry at our church! I still have plastic sheathing if any one needs it. The duct tape has already been used up on some of my "projects".

Always feels weird being on the same side as all the Calvinists.

But at least I can comfort myself with the thought that in its prime, Methodism was postmillenial as well.
