Matthew Fox's 95 Theses
TexAnglican ^ | 6/04/2005 | Randall Foster

Matthew Fox, one time Roman Catholic priest and now Episcopalian, travelled to Wittenburg, Germany in May and published his own "95 Theses" there. They may be found on his web site here. And don't forget to check out the rest of his blog, which includes information about his "New Reformation" and Wisdom University (which he founded) in Oakland, California. Does anyone know, has Mr. Fox been received as a priest in the ECUSA diocese of California?

Pride, arrogance, and a desire to be better, smarter, or more sophisticated than others lurk behind many gropings into alleged secret esoteric knowledge. Along with the persecution fantasies, delusions of having lived as a princess in an earlier time, Faustian power lust, and related phenomena. Of course, if it involves nude rituals and group sex that's an added attraction for the thrill seekers.

With the dissident pseudo-Catholic liberal wacko groups, there is a heavy preoccupation with guilt, shame, and blaming others for environmental, economic, and gender-related social problems. This slides quickly into a very Manichean vision with extreme paranoid tendencies. As with all cults, there is a narrowing of the social field so that the only things considered authentic or truly of value are those centered in the encounter group. Classic cult mentality.

Given just the financial disasters of the clergy molestation scandals, it probably is NOT a good idea for people to be hugging and touching one another at Mass.

I presume you're talking about the "Peace", an innovation introduced in ECUSA in the late 60s as part of their new liturgy. I don't know what it's like in the Catholic church, but in ECUSA it's a mess -- it's a 5-minute social hour, people wadering everywhere, yakking; I've seen churches that have taken to ringing bells to break it up. I am so glad we don't have that in our traditional Anglican service.

The "sign of peace" in the new Catholic Mass is one of the most ridiculous innovations. If you are sitting in a pew in the congregation, basically you have to shake hands with at least twelve people ( two to the right, two to the left, four in front, four behind you). Some people don't like to do this and refrain from doing so. Some people shake hands with those they know, but not with others. It creates very awkward situations.

It's a mess in the NO mass too. I've seen priests leave Our Lord upon the altar to walk up and down the aisles to hug and kiss everybody.

That's when I remember it coming into Catholic churches, too -- I wonder who had the blight first. (Somehow I'm recalling what an aunt of mine used to say about kids playing together: they always pick up each other's bad habits, never the good ones -- LOL!)

The Druid finally resigned his Episcopalian orders and is a full blown Druid/pagan/Wiccan whatever now.

"There are groups at seminaries training ECUSA and ELCA clergy where they have regular groups who pray to Gaia....and there was a wiccan ritual passing itself off as a "women's liturgy" on the ECUSA web page not that long ago. These pics are not at all surprising."

Reading this thread is actually making me feel a little sick. I came THIS CLOSE to being sucked into this loony crap in the 70's and 80's. I've caught myself two or three times so far saying, "Thank you, God!" for steering me out of it. But I read all of Fox's books, believed all of his preaching, and thought it was really cool when he put Starhawk on as his teaching partner. Whew! What a close call!

He lives on publicity. He is part of the same multi-headed demon that includes John Shelby Spong, Joan Chittister, Rosemary Radford Ruether, Charles Bennison, Hans Kueng, Miriam Therese Winter, Carter Heyward, Dan Schutte, as well as other assorted fruits and nuts in the Catholic hierarchy and the hieararchy of the Anglican Communion.

Yep...played with a lot of it, but God called me where he wanted me, and I say, "Thank you Lord for letting me hear your voice!"

It's no wonder why the Vatican booted Fox, and if Episcopalians were smart they would too. His "theses" is nothing more than new-age garbage, it his heresey not Christianity.

These 95 Theses of Matthew Fox are a blueprint for the religion of the Anti-Christ. I do not need to mention the name of Cardinal Biffi after you read Matthew Fox 95 "faith observations" but I will say these are dangerous in the extreme because they could serve as a foundation for the work of the URI. They have lacked a catechetical device and this could be the beginning of a "Confession" for the False URI church.

According to my friend that just left an ELCA sem, it goes much deeper and darker than that.

I thought this was about Matthew Fox's 95 Theses. But then I read them and realized he meant to call them his 95 Feces.

Nothing to worry about here, folks. Just an unfortunate typo.

Murph, I would find Mr. Fox's "Theses" sad if they weren't so damn funny!

Maybe I'm too naive, but I don't think we need to worry about anyone other than the MSM too seriously. And no one takes the MSM seriously (other than Muslim fanatics always read for a reason to go on jihad).
