CHICAGO, May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Rainbow Sash Movement (RSM) is deeply saddened by the response of Francis Cardinal George to the presence of gay and lesbian Catholics at the Cathedral for Pentecost Sunday, May 30, 2004 at 12:30PM. In wearing the Rainbow Sash we call Cardinal George to honor our experience, we continue to call on him to honor his commitment to Rainbow Sash Movement for ongoing public dialogue, and to work with us for justice and understanding.
Cardinal Mahony of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has notified the Rainbow Sash Movement that his Cathedral will welcome Rainbow Sash Members as part of the Catholic Family to his Cathedral, and when RSM members present themselves for Communion they will receive It.

"Why does Mahoney want to welcome the Sodomite destroyers to the Church they seek to destroy?
What is going on?
Is Mahoney a shepherd or a wolf in the sheepfold?"
LOL! I KNEW he reminded me of somebody...I just didn't go far enough back into my buried memories to know who!
One thing I'd just add...use caution and charity, as we don't know whether the claim in this press release are true. I'd like to hear it from Cdl. Mahony himself before blowing a gasket.

At question would seem only to be whether Mahoney's actions are promotion, or mere tolerance.
Proof that the church is going through a schizophrenic stage.

Issuing statements like that is useful to provide plausible deniability, while having no real effect on the furtherance of their agenda.
From now on they can point to that and sanctimoniously insist, "We're as upset by seduction of youth as you are."
Cardinal Mahoney is in heresy and is a dissenter. How did this man ever become Cardinal?
Argh, Bernadin, keep hearing his name associated with some of these guys. Never knew much about him, so didn't know, but Freepers seem to have a lot to say about him, little of it good. Though to his credit, I hear that a lot of the protocals in place in Chicago, that has kept Chicago safe was his doing.

Are the the Rainbow Sashers now going to condemn Homosexual priests who break their vows?
This is the group that stormed St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC when John Cardinal O'Connor was still alive. They tossed condoms at those assembled in the pews and dirty condoms were draped over statues.
I recall Fr. Groeschel once saying that the leader of ACT UP was a catholic. As he lay dieing from aids, he called for a catholic priest to hear his confession and absolve him of his sins. The very same person who led this revolt on the cathedral, requested and was granted a catholic burial.
This is when we, as catholics, must remember, accept and emrace Christ's message to "love our enemy". We don't have to agree with it, though.
Chicago Catholicism was for all intents and purposes destroyed under "brother joseph".That's what his groupies call him. Most of the Catholic Church that remains in his former diocese,,is due to some good priests,some solid Catholic families and of course,God's mercy and graces. His evil tentacles extended far beyond Chicago and infected or affected the entire Catholic Church in the U.S.A. He was very powerful in the USCCB and was probably the "kingmaker" of all the bad bishops we are still burdened with.
