I'm probably really stepping in it now (and late too) but, in all fairness, the history related in the Book of Mormon and the way Joseph Smith set up the church is mighty suspect. http://www.exmormon.org/tract2.htm has a compelling fact based critique...it's worth a read.

Oh yeah. I think that the very best source on an organization and its history is disgruntled exmembers with a grudge. So, I'm sure the best source for information on Free Republic would obviously be something the infamous Eschoir wrote or any of a number of banned posters.

It tells the reader that the American Indians are descended from three groups of immigrants who were led by God from their original homes in the Near East to America

And here I thought American Injuns or Native Americans were really Mogoloid, didn't figure them as Semitic. I wonder how this accounts for the Olmec and Toltec and Maya civilisations which were older than 400 AD and in fact older than the destruction of the first temple

Got any WITHOUT a grudge?

Is it even REMOTELY possible (in the LDS organizations thinking) that there may be someone, somewhere, that is ex-Mormon that merely wants the others still inside to see the light as they have?

Or are ALL ex's suspect????

If the reason why there are ex-members is fact based, then yes, they would be the best source...especially since the facts are there for all to see. This doesn't mean that they or I hate you or other Mormons, just disagree with you based on evidence. The link that I posted from http://www.exmormon.org, http://www.exmormon.org/tract2.htm covers it pretty well. With substantiation.
