He must put up an agressive position, seeing how his country has degraded since ditching Communism. The sting is compounded by China's success while retaining Communism. Seeing so much American capital tied up with China and not Russia probably arouses more resentment in the former Sovs than any amount of propaganda did.
Unlike Iraq, Russia still possesses a wide array of natural resources that go untapped and a society that approached the United States in levels of technology and education.
A wise president would utilize this opportunity before it's ignored into a problem. We have enough of those already.

Russian president the KGB criminal Putin, who's grandfather used to be Stalin's most trusted servant -his own cook, and Putin himself was expelled from West Germany as a Russian communist spy and saboteur, he cannot be trusted.
If there was any real freedom in Russia, he would've been in jail as the rest of the neo-communist Russian government.
There was never any true "anti-communist revolution in any of the "former" communist countries.
Anatoliy Golitsyn's book The Perestroika deception is right on the money.
Please read it and you'll understand what the communist criminals from Russia have REALLY in mind for America.
