I tend to agree with you generally on campaign finance, other than on the loans: if you want to lend yourself money, or spend it, why not?
Spening's fine. The problem with loans is the money is raised after the election, which skirts the intent of the disclosure laws, and goes straight from the donor into the candidate's pockets. Still, I think Tom's being cozy with the gambling interests is troubling, at the very least. There's too much corruption associated with gambling to make me comfortable with it.
From what I've gathered, McClintock's position on the Indians is to abide by the letter of the treaty. I'm not a big fan of gambling, but frankly the state lottery bugs me more than the tribes.

I believe we should re-define the pejorative "RINO". IMO, a RINO is a registered Republican who is actively working to elect other democrats and is actively promoting the democratic slate in a campaign. For instance, in PA we have Barbara Hafer, who is registered Republican, and she got in a snit cause the PA Republican Party wouldn't promote her for governor, so she endorsed the Democratic candidate for governor (Ed Rendell, and he won) and is currently endorsing the Democrat Ed Onorato for our current Pittsburgh big race of the moment, Allegheny County Commissioner. THAT is a RINO -- NOT Arnold Schwarzenegger, who supports some liberal issues but is working within the Republican party.

Thanks, WM.
Am I being too much of an optimist to think ambrose is being too much of a pessimist?

Well, I held my breath and ventured over to DU just to see what was up.That was a courageous thing to do. I hope you did not contract any social diseases while you were over there.

I just can't see McClintock voters going, one way or the other, for Grayout Davis. That is just assinine.Me either. I haven't seen any hard data to indicate this is the case, just empty rumors, probably started intentionally by the Rats.
To: numberonepal
I was a covert operative posting over at DU for awhile. I slipped when I posted an article with facts supporting WMD. Facts are not allowed and I was banned for life.
Well, one of my email addy's was banned. Hehehhe

Bill Press isn't just a liberal - he's the former Chairman of the California Rat Party... so he may know what he is talking about.Hm, I saw Bill Press this morning predict that the Recall will pass and that Schwarzenegger will win.
What say ye to that?
To: Ichneumon
Today, nothing is to be gained by back-biting from any side. Let's just sit back with a bowl of popcorn and watch the show, nothing we do will change the results (although of course the California Freepers should *vote* before they relax).
You've captured the spirit of the thread precisely. Whether for Arnold or Tom, we all want Gray gone.

HISTORICAL RECORD NUMBER at the polls! Me thinks they're counting some voters more than one! No, wait, some voters vote multiple times!
To: Ichneumon
I agree with you 100%. In addition to what you said, this is a live thread regarding the voting in CA... not a thread for trashing the candidates (with the obvious exception of the incumbents)... so if we all just stick to topic...

Please take the time to understand the rules before you try to reqrite them:
Recall is an up or down vote, period, simple, clean.
Replacement is a run-off between over a hundred people, at least three of whom are serious contenders and none of whom is the guy being recalled or not being recalled. The one with the most votes (out of three and then some) wins, period, simple, clean.
Jesus H. Christ would not pull 51% of a vote out of a hundred candidate pack and VERY few mere humans would be able to do it out of a three person field.

Honestly, can you think of an election in recent years when the Democrats didn't cheat?

You replied to:
11382. No vote cast in the recall election shall be counted for any candidate unless the voter also voted for or against the recall of the officer sought to be recalled.
with:
Oh NO! This means that all of the voters who cannot read will be dis-enfranchised! The Horror!
The requirement to vote in the first part in order to be able to vote in the second part was voided by a court decision quite some time ago.

Good, I hope they all believe that at DU. That will make them just that more despondent and berserk when they go off the cliff tonight.
I wonder when anyone in the RAT party will wake up and realize that when the Clintons run the party, the only people in the party that win are Clintons -- everyone else loses. They lost both houses of Congress, they lost the '00 Presidential election with a hot economy, they lost the '02 mid-terms in historic manner. Now they've lost the California Governorship with Clinton's capable assistance and advice. Think they'll get the picture?

I voted for Arnie by post....
Just went to take a look at my local polling station.
On the outside door they had the complete voter list stapled up with those voting by 11am lined out.
Seems to me it would be easy for anyone to take a look and get a name and addres then go into the station to make a false vote....even repeat this later in the day.
Any comments....?
I guess I could take a pic of this for the record....maybe hang around outside to see if anyone does this....
