Political commentator Rush Limbaugh (search) returned to his popular radio program Friday and said he was "frustrated" about allegations that he was involved in the sale and use of illegal drugs.
Limbaugh was back on the air one day after his name surfaced as the possible target of a criminal probe into the sale and use of illegal drugs in south Florida.
On the national program, which is carried by about 650 stations across the country, Limbaugh spoke briefly about the allegations of his drug use but avoided going into specifics. He said he was "a little frustrated" that he had not "gotten to the bottom" of what was happening.
"The story in Florida really is an emerging situation ... I don't really know the full scope of what I'm dealing with," he said. Limbaugh said he'd been humbled by all the supportive e-mails he'd received from fans, estimating he'd received about 25,000.
As for all the media stories that have emerged about the drug investigation, Limbaugh said that he was "tempted" to respond to them but "I'm not going to go there."
But he vowed to discuss the case in detail in the future.
"Rest assured, I will discuss this with you and tell you how it is ... maybe more than you really want to know about this," he said.

They haven't confirmed anything yet. Here's a quote from Palm Beach. "We don't comment on investigations," said Mike Edmondson, a spokesman for the Palm Beach County State Attorney's Office." Sounds to me like we've got another one of those infamous leaks somewhere. This kind of shoot from the hip guessing as to what is going on is probably why he won't say anything yet.
Yeah, but in this day and age we all take our directions from lawyers.
There are some simple one's that can be addressed. Does he have a supply of prescription drugs that he recieves without a prescription for one.
Sounds to me like he's not being forthcoming.
I'd say he does! According to his maid, he went through 11900 tablets in 6 months. Anybody who doesn't think 65 tablets per day isn't a serious drug problem, they've got there head in the sand. I am amazed that he could take 65 pain killers per day and not be dead. Looks like he has a 2 bottle/day habit and to show no symptoms of it is remarkable. /s
Drink the Kool-Aid dude! How did he get in it? The sherrifs department came on him while investigating a drug ring. Just because they are not prosecuting him does not mena he is not implicated. They are prosecuting the dealers.
If they are not going to prosecute him, then he is not implicated in the investigation, period. Innocent until proven guilty, and innocence doesn't have to be proven.
He might have other valuable info about his "houskeeper" that could implicate her. There are many possibilities, but until Rush confirms or denies the allegations, it's all heresay. Which is frustrating.
I am a little leary of the numbers the maid reported. Her immunity probably rests on the fact she was just getting them for her employer.
There is an upper limit on the number of lorcets you can do. The tylenol will kill you long before the Oxycodone.
But the reality of the matter as I see it is that that is not going to be the case.
But on the other hand, the accusation of how much he was supposedly taking would seem to be an amount so far and above what could be taken and a person still function in a normal fashion. I think there is substance to the base accusation, but that it was embellished beyond anything approaching reality.
You make it sound like Rush is just some maggot infested junky squatting in a shooting gallery waiting for his next fix.
Yeah, me too. I hate to say it but from what I heard of his show today, he's been positively Clintonian.
OJ was found not guilty. Innocent until proven guilty is also only for a court of law. Not public and personal opinions. I hope the accusations are wildly false. I have not taken a position on the accusastion yet (though my posts might lead you to believe otherwise). I have been commenting on my current gut feelings on the matter.
Ouch...now I know how Rush feels.

Just because he does his dope in a Palm Beach mansion does not make him any the less a junky. As long as he sees himself different he will have trouble beating this.
He has a prescription drug problem that has run horribly amuk. He has risked everything to do dope. He is a junkie.
There are many people who wind up in investigations who are not implicated with wrongdoing. Intil he is CHARGED he in not implicated. As I said it is difficult to be patient, but I am not going to assume on the basis of the current evidence that Rush is a drug addict. That would definitely be a conclusive leap.
