Political commentator Rush Limbaugh (search) returned to his popular radio program Friday and said he was "frustrated" about allegations that he was involved in the sale and use of illegal drugs.
Limbaugh was back on the air one day after his name surfaced as the possible target of a criminal probe into the sale and use of illegal drugs in south Florida.
On the national program, which is carried by about 650 stations across the country, Limbaugh spoke briefly about the allegations of his drug use but avoided going into specifics. He said he was "a little frustrated" that he had not "gotten to the bottom" of what was happening.
"The story in Florida really is an emerging situation ... I don't really know the full scope of what I'm dealing with," he said. Limbaugh said he'd been humbled by all the supportive e-mails he'd received from fans, estimating he'd received about 25,000.
As for all the media stories that have emerged about the drug investigation, Limbaugh said that he was "tempted" to respond to them but "I'm not going to go there."
But he vowed to discuss the case in detail in the future.
"Rest assured, I will discuss this with you and tell you how it is ... maybe more than you really want to know about this," he said.

Just pointing out a plot my fried. Dont get your panties in a bunch. Is that politically incorrect?
To: raggededge
Well, that is not what he told his audience. You should not really say that someone said something he did not.
What he said was "I can not comment on this until I know what all is involved". He has not been contacted by any authorities. He has no idea what this investigation is about. I am not saying that he is guilty or innocent. Only that people that are jumping to a conclusion here are WAY out of line.
I am sure that his lawyer, if he is a good one and I know he is, has advised him NOT to get into a p*ssing contest with the media by responding to something they print. There have been NO OFFICIAL charges against him and there may NEVER be. So not responding or commenting is the correct thing to do. From a legal perspective he could only hurt himself by saying anything at this time.
As for those of you who are whining about "why doesn't Rush just say he's innocent? Then it would be OK". I only need to remind everyone of this....
"I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Monica Lewinsky"
Did that make you feel better? Does that show you how valuable a blanket declaration of innocence would be?

"I sure do wish Rush would come out and declare this whole mess to be utter BS. It is very difficult to be patient."
Perhaps he cannot do that. I think everyone needs to be ready for that possibility.

If he speaks about it, it will be on every television program for the next 500 days where Rush says I didn't do it and then the smiling news reader will say, Yea right.
Also, there is no reason to spit in the face of the law in Florida. A DA can indict you with impunity and make the case seem credible.
Rush and his lawyer have to tread carefully.
PS: ESPN and the NFL are sissys. Boo hoo, my friends don't like that I work with Rush. Irvin, Jackson, Young, Berman - all sissys and babys in my book. Sorry, they should go broadcast woman's soccer but then woman's soccer are more manly than them.

I dread saying this, but does anyone remember how slow and odd he sounded in the time before his implant? I thought he was sick at the time, and then thought it was just that when you go deaf you \can't really hear yourself clearly. (Consider how the deaf talk.) Still, I am worried. This could fall either way. And while I like to think we are able to separage issue from arguer, many out there are going to try and use this improperly to attact our issues because one of the arguers may have proven too human.

FoxNews reported the Sherrifs Dept confirmed that Rush was implicated as a user in an ongong drug operationWell that's not what I've read
Another thread right here
Fox reporter says that: "Those in the know say that, though he may be a valuable source of information, he will probably not be prosecuted himself, as they are really going after the dealers. . ."
i.e. here is not himself implicated in the investigation.
To: raggededge
He has no credibility left. Bud, he has a prescription dug problem that got out of control. It has nothing to do with his credibility.

Joe it is obvious he is either guilty as sin or is setting up the enquirer for the lawsuit of the century. I'd be the house on the former. One can almost hear your smile through your words. Are you clapping, too?
To: MrLeRoy
I'de be very surprised if Rush goes down to the drugstore in person for ANYTHING. Most likely he sends a house staffer, and can't say for certain if the staffer did what they were supposed to or not.

Yeah, he was slurring his words. Recall..he had a total loss of hearing and was reading the caller's questions off of his screen monitor for months. We didn't know it tho.
He finally confessed that his slurred speech came from his inability to hear the sound of his own voice, and without the implant would lose the ability to "talk"...yes, he slurred his words..duhhh.

Rush also complained about how many pills the doctors had him taking during his hearing situation. He often talked of how people couldn't comprehend how many pills he had to take. The possibility that the accusations are more than a little merit to them are becoming more and more realistic.

That's about as well-informed a statement as "this whole story is BS" at this stage of the game. It is not the Enquirer anymore. (Thought they are more accurate than the New York Times on average) The sherrifs department has confirmed this to the mainstream press.

"Those in the know say that, though he may be a valuable source of information, he will probably not be prosecuted himself, as they are really going after the dealers. . ." That says to me "Rush uses drug dealers to get his pills, but we are going to go after the seller not the buyer."
The statement does not in any way, shape, or form paint anything approaching innocence for Rush.
