Rush a 'Little Frustrated' by Drug Allegations
fox ^ | 10-03-03

Political commentator Rush Limbaugh (search) returned to his popular radio program Friday and said he was "frustrated" about allegations that he was involved in the sale and use of illegal drugs.

Limbaugh was back on the air one day after his name surfaced as the possible target of a criminal probe into the sale and use of illegal drugs in south Florida.

On the national program, which is carried by about 650 stations across the country, Limbaugh spoke briefly about the allegations of his drug use but avoided going into specifics. He said he was "a little frustrated" that he had not "gotten to the bottom" of what was happening.

"The story in Florida really is an emerging situation ... I don't really know the full scope of what I'm dealing with," he said. Limbaugh said he'd been humbled by all the supportive e-mails he'd received from fans, estimating he'd received about 25,000.

As for all the media stories that have emerged about the drug investigation, Limbaugh said that he was "tempted" to respond to them but "I'm not going to go there."

But he vowed to discuss the case in detail in the future.

"Rest assured, I will discuss this with you and tell you how it is ... maybe more than you really want to know about this," he said.

Dude, have you ever heard someone call with the RADIO ON in the background? You can HEAR there is no delay, and he has one, count 'em, one call screener. You are 0-for-2.

Why do you seem so gleeful and insistant that he has a problem? I'd think that if in fact it were true, maybe ,you'd have a little compassion!!

I have compassion. Believe me I have seen prescription drugs destroy a person very close to me and it started out with a doctor writing to much medication. I thank God I can see the lie that oxycodone tells but some people will follow it into the pit of hell. Rush is a man no more no less. If he beats this he will be a better man.

I hope you never get involved in a scrape with law enforcement. You may be very rudely relieved of your ignorance.

I can't say too much. I was pretty d*mned gleeful when stuff came out about Clinton.

Oh, heck, one more for old time's sake:

"That Monica Lewinsky has the cutest face I've ever come across."

I wonder if Rush's brother David had any inklings of Rushbo's alleged problem?

Who knows. Sometimes the closest are the last to know.

Could this mean that when Rush ultimately finds out exactly who is behind this smear campaign, it will open up a Pandora's box that the public may not want to hear about? That's my translation of what he is trying to tell us.

It isn't going to be pretty, when Rush exposes the truth behind this story, IMHO.

I agree. Rush is not "on something." He's on to something.

Of course... even if he is innocent, he MUST not say anything, legally, until he knows first IF there will be any charges, and then WHAT the charges are.

There is a neat little trick in the law where evidence admitted to prove one thing can then be used to prove something else -- even if, originally, the evidence would not be allowed for that purpose. Does that make any sense to you? Even if he is innocent, he must not say anything, because his words can be taken and then used (twisted) to prove an unrelated point.

To avoid a legal mess, he must not say anything relevent to the case -- if there is in fact a case -- until he knows exactly what it is "he is dealing with".

The FIRST THING any competent lawyer would tell Rush in this situation is not to say anything until the he and the lawyer have gotten together and gotten a handle on all the facts and allegations, and formed a plan/are on the same page for dealing with them.

Wrong.

If one is completely innocent, and states this to his attorney, a retained attorney would advise his client to state he is completely innocent of the publicly made allegations.

It would be short and sweet, something like this: "I am conpletely innocent of the publicly made allegations, I don't use illegally obtained drugs, nor do I obtain drugs illegally".

Very simple. To the point....

LOL!

Wrong. To repeat:

Trust me... I'm a top notch law student at a top notch school :) Not to toot my own horn or anything :) (hey, I work really hard -- I've earned it)

Yes, 1 call screener. But you are wrong on there being no delay. Virtually every radio program in America runs on a 5 to 7 second delay for the express purpose of using the dump button to prevent things such as F Bombs from making it to air. I have been on Rush's show. Trust me. There is a delay.

This is total nonsense if Rush is innocent. An innocent man would have nothing to lose by denying the charges.

And this sums it up.

Wrong. Innocent or guilty, a lawyer will tell you to say nothing one way or the other to anyone. See post #117.

Thanks for your concern. As for my ignorance, I've seen such allegations come and go with the years.

Rush isn't acting like an innocent man.

Rush is smart and obviously has a good lawyer advising him to keep quiet until he sorts all this out.

I am trying to figure out what he meant when he said " There is more to this than you will want to know".

That statement has been bothering me as well. In many ways. One of which is that Rush is a NARC! 2 of the lowest forms of life are Rats and Narcs. I would lose far more respect for Rush if he was a Narc than if he was a full blown out of control addict.
