Rush a 'Little Frustrated' by Drug Allegations

Political commentator Rush Limbaugh (search) returned to his popular radio program Friday and said he was "frustrated" about allegations that he was involved in the sale and use of illegal drugs.

Limbaugh was back on the air one day after his name surfaced as the possible target of a criminal probe into the sale and use of illegal drugs in south Florida.

On the national program, which is carried by about 650 stations across the country, Limbaugh spoke briefly about the allegations of his drug use but avoided going into specifics. He said he was "a little frustrated" that he had not "gotten to the bottom" of what was happening.

"The story in Florida really is an emerging situation ... I don't really know the full scope of what I'm dealing with," he said. Limbaugh said he'd been humbled by all the supportive e-mails he'd received from fans, estimating he'd received about 25,000.

As for all the media stories that have emerged about the drug investigation, Limbaugh said that he was "tempted" to respond to them but "I'm not going to go there."

But he vowed to discuss the case in detail in the future.

"Rest assured, I will discuss this with you and tell you how it is ... maybe more than you really want to know about this," he said.

All of these sources cite the Enquirer report, or the "anonymous sheriff's department sources", which do not directly implicate Rush. It is my fear that you are correct. But I certainly hope not.

That is enough for me.....and I am definitely not known as a Rush-bot.

He has a drug problem. It is obvious by his actions.

The only obvious thing I see is that Rush is listening to his lawyer. Anyone under criminal investigation should never discuss the problem with the media, regardless of their role. We'll learn what it's about all in due time.

He is not innocent. He is a drug addict.

That's about as well-informed a statement as "this whole story is BS" at this stage of the game.

Could this mean that when Rush ultimately finds out exactly who is behind this smear campaign, it will open up a Pandora's box that the public may not want to hear about? That's my translation of what he is trying to tell us.

It isn't going to be pretty, when Rush exposes the truth behind this story, IMHO.

If the only indication that I was under investigation for illegally buying drugs was what I read in the newspaper I would not make a public comment on it either, unless I believe everything I read in the newspapers. I stopped being that gullible years ago.

You clearly haven't been paying attention then. Law enforcement outfits have confirmed to multiple new sources (Fox News, CNN, etc...) that Limbaugh is under investigation. Its not just a tabloid article getting big air play.

I hate to say this, but I remember hearing Rush a couple of years ago on the air slurring his words. In fact, one listener even asked if he was drunk. Soon after that, he stopped doing it. As bad as this is for conservative radio, it might be an opportunity for Rush to seek the help he needs if he does have a problem. Remember, libs love confession. If Rush confesses to a habit, they have no choice but to accept it. They won't, of course, so they'll have another opportunity to make themselves look like evil weasels. Rush will get through this.

On another note, I know how frustrating it is to be in pain and be unable to get medication. I have two herniated discs in my lower back. I have to almost get on my knees to beg the Dr. for pain medication. Rush may have some significant pain, and these pills may be the only way for him to get some sleep. I can empathize with anyone who goes through this. With me, the pain can sometimes persist for weeks, and it shoots all the way down my legs.

FoxNews reported the Sherrifs Dept confirmed that Rush was implicated as a user in an ongong drug operation. It is beginning to sound like a bunch of Kool-aid drinking clintocrats around here.

If he beats this problem he will come out a better person.

Why is that? How does a flat denial hurt an innocent man?

If Rush is on drugs, he's sure not fitting my impression of what somebody on drugs can function like.

Please don't take this personally, but perhaps your impression is wrong. I would have had the same impression, and I'm thinking that I'm wrong.

I'm not aware of him ever having been spaced out, zonked out, slurred, etc.

I've noticed over the past few years that he seemed kind of slow on understanding some of his callers points. I attributed it to just getting older and his brain just being filled with too much information. Which may very well be the case. But, perhaps, it's because his mind was slower because of the effects of medications.

I've also noticed over the past few years (and I know this has been a complaint of many of his fans for years) he seems to have taken a lot of time off. Could very well be for extremely legit reasons. Heck, if I was my own boss and had Rush's money, I'd take a lot of time off too. But maybe the time off is related to his possible (mis)uses of medications.

Has anybody here ever known him to show signs of drug use?

We only have access to him 3 hours a day, 5 days a week... (less than that actually)... He's a professional, an entertainer, and he's been doing radio for most of his professional life. I imagine he can do a typical show on "cruise" control and most of the audience would never think twice that he wasn't at 100%.

Just goes to show, that he really can do a show, with "half his brain tied behind his back, just to make it fair."

The speech problems Rush had several years ago was caused by his being deaf! If you can not hear yourself you can not speak properly.

Unless his deafness and surgery were all a giant lie and scam that no one discovered, his speech problems at that time were caused by his deafness.

His callers have points? 90% of the time its "dittos and here's a softball for you to hit out of the park." I wish he would can the callin segments and cut his show to 2 hours with just monologue.
