I hate to say this, but I remember hearing Rush a couple of years ago on the air slurring his words. In fact, one listener even asked if he was drunk. Soon after that, he stopped doing it. As bad as this is for conservative radio, it might be an opportunity for Rush to seek the help he needs if he does have a problem. Remember, libs love confession. If Rush confesses to a habit, they have no choice but to accept it. They won't, of course, so they'll have another opportunity to make themselves look like evil weasels. Rush will get through this.

On another note, I know how frustrating it is to be in pain and be unable to get medication. I have two herniated discs in my lower back. I have to almost get on my knees to beg the Dr. for pain medication. Rush may have some significant pain, and these pills may be the only way for him to get some sleep. I can empathize with anyone who goes through this. With me, the pain can sometimes persist for weeks, and it shoots all the way down my legs.

The speech problems Rush had several years ago was caused by his being deaf! If you can not hear yourself you can not speak properly.

Unless his deafness and surgery were all a giant lie and scam that no one discovered, his speech problems at that time were caused by his deafness.

Yeah, he was slurring his words. Recall..he had a total loss of hearing and was reading the caller's questions off of his screen monitor for months. We didn't know it tho.

He finally confessed that his slurred speech came from his inability to hear the sound of his own voice, and without the implant would lose the ability to "talk"...yes, he slurred his words..duhhh.

I remember that very well. I heard it too. But his slurred speech corresponded to the time when his hearing was going, and the problem cleared up after the implantation of his hearing device, so I'd ascribe his slurred speech to his loss of hearing.

Nevertheless, I don't believe his non-denial denial.

I was a drug user in my youth.

The alleged amounts of drugs involved are way beyond pain management and are for getting high...very high.

I've seen folks take upwards of 150 milligrams of lortab or norco a day for a heavy buzz for someone with high tolerance build-up. That is hydrocodone...an opiate derivative. Oddly, the massive doses of acetominophen (tylenol) are more dangerous at that level.

If Rush was in pain, he should have gone to a pain manager for a fentanyl transdermal patch or a morphine lollipop.

What the truth is here is impossible to say. I don't much like what I'm hearing from Rush or his accusers.

I'm sure by now someone let you in on the secret... He was deaf and couldn't hear his own voice. The questions started comming before he let the listeners know. Then the miracles of modern medicine gave him back much of his auditory functions. Vioala!
