See if you can guess the source of this quote. "It is better for all the world . . . [if] society can prevent those who are manifestly unfit from continuing their kind . . . Three generations of imbeciles is enough."

If you think that this quote came from a Nazi document, you're wrong. It's from Oliver Wendell Holmes's 1927 majority opinion in BUCK V. BELL that upheld a Virginia law mandating the sterilization of the "feebleminded."

Twenty years later, Holmes's words were thrown back in our face by Nazi defendants in the Nuremberg trials. You see, while the Nazis' worst crimes may have ended at Auschwitz, they "began on Long Island."

That's the conclusion of a new book, WAR AGAINST THE WEAK: EUGENICS AND AMERICA'S CAMPAIGN TO CREATE A MASTER RACE written by Edwin Black, who contends that American "corporate philanthropies helped found and fund the Nazi eugenics of Hitler and Mengele."

Eugenics, which literally means "good birth," originally referred to the use of selective breeding to "improve" the human race. Of course, what was meant by "improve" reflected the racism and bigotry of the eugenicists. Blacks, Jews, Eastern and Southern Europeans, the retarded, and even people with brown hair were the targets of the "improvers."

Thus, between 1900 and the mid-sixties, "hundreds of thousands of Americans . . . were not permitted to continue their families by reproducing." Black compares it to "ethnic cleansing," and he's right.

The tools of American eugenics included forcible sterilization, commitment to mental institutions, prohibitions against marriage, and even dissolution of already existing marriages. One Michigan legislator went so far as to introduce a bill calling for the electrocution of severely retarded infants.

Eventually, American eugenics, with help from the Carnegie Institution, the Rockefeller Foundation, Margaret Sanger, and others, found its way to Germany. While "Nazi eugenics quickly outpaced American eugenics in both velocity and ferocity," Black writes, the connection between the two was never lost. As one American eugenicist told the Richmond TIMES-DISPATCH, "the Germans are beating us at our own game."

The Holocaust and other crimes of the Third Reich made eugenics a bad word, and the American connection was quickly swept under the rug. But the attempt to play God "never really stopped."

Today it takes the form of "human genomic science and corporate globalization." Instead of racist declarations, we have "polished PR campaigns" that hold out the promises of biotech: miracle cures and ever-increasing life expectancies.

While the word eugenics is never used, that's what it is. We are intent on eliminating "imperfection" from the gene pool. Even today, children whose "deformities" are discovered in utero are rarely permitted to be born. And as genetic technology improves, the list of those whom Black calls the "never-born" will continue to expand.

If the "abolition of man" is to be stopped, this story must be told. Christians need to pull the truth about eugenics out from underneath the rug and hold it up as a reminder of where playing God leads us. Six decades of denial is enough.

That means exactly what it sounds like. She intended birth control and abortion to be used to improve the "quality" of the human race.

Yes, exactly. She was very concerned about the way that "undesirables" tended to reproduce in greater numbers than the "more refined" specimens, though some of that was not factual and was the usual racist bilge portraying Blacks and non-Nordic Europeans as sex-crazy. That's why she located her first clinics in minority neighborhoods, claiming she was there to help poor women control their bodies, but really just working hard to keep their birth-rate low. The BCL also sent Black preachers through the South to preach the birth-control doctrine, and idea Sanger came up with personally.

But population control is really separate issue from eugenics. Even a genetically outstanding population will be a pit of misery, if it keeps reproducing faster than it can grow its economy and education levels.

Population control does nothing to promote a free society or free markets. Somebody already made that bet for you, and you lost.

The bet was made in 1980 between biologist Paul Ehrlich and economist Paul Simon. Ehrlich, the author of The Population Bomb, believed that increasing population would bring disaster and perhaps extinction for the human race. Simon, an economist, reasoned that people are an asset, not a liability. They bet $1,000 on the prices of five common, but vital, raw materials such as grain and oil. If they became scarce, as Ehrlich predicted, the prices would rise. After ten years the prices of all five materials had dropped. Population was not the problem. Though there were more people, resources were more abundant. People were using or producing them more efficiently.

Where would you rather live-- North or South Korea? It’s not population that matters, but freedom. Free people produce more and better goods and more wealth, and wealthy nations treat the environment well.

After a speech, Pro-Life activist Penny Lea was approached by an old man. Weeping, he told her the following story:

I lived in Germany during the Nazi holocaust. I considered myself a Christian. I attended Church since I was a small boy. We had heard the stories of what was happening to the Jews, but like most people today in this country, we tried to distance ourselves from the reality of what was really taking place. What could anyone do to stop it? "A railroad track ran behind our small church, and each Sunday morning we would hear the whistle from the distance and then the clacking of the wheels moving over the track. We became disturbed when one Sunday we noticed cries coming from the train as it passed by. We grimly realized that the train was carrying Jews. They were like cattle in those cars! "Week after week that train whistle would blow. We would dread to hear the sound of those old wheels because we knew that the Jews would begin to cry to us as they passed our church. It was so terribly disturbing! We could do nothing to help these poor miserable people, yet their screams tormented us. We knew exactly at what time that whistle would blow, and we decided the only way to keep from being so disturbed by the cries was to start singing our hymns. By the time the train came rumbling past the church yard, we were singing at the top of our voices. If some of the screams reached our ears, we'd just sing a little louder until we could hear them no more. Years passed and no one talks about it much anymore, but I still hear that train whistle in my sleep. I can still hear them crying out for help. G-d forgive all of us who called ourselves Christians, yet did nothing to intervene."

Have you ever wondered HOW people could have stood by and let the holocaust just happen? Do you wonder why the Christians in this story chose to just sing their praise to God a little louder to drown out the victim's cries?

The old man's story is in the past. The past cannot be changed. It is easy to think we would act differently now. But the old man's last words are haunting "It's happening all over again in America with abortion. The Holocaust is here."

As American Christians, we have become so comfortable in our lovely buildings and padded pews. We have beautiful fellowship halls for our many banquets. We have the latest sound equipment for our praise and worship. We have computers to keep our records. We gather together each week and shut ourselves inside our buildings. We raise our voices as loud as we can, all in the name of God.

And yet, in the heavenly realm, our voices raised in praise are drowned out by screams of agony from millions of babies who are being executed before they are born. We can't see them. We can't hear them. But it is happening right now!

Babies are being aborted UP UNTIL THE DAY OF BIRTH in this country. Their organs and brains are "harvested" for use in medical experimentation. In Wichita, Kansas, the smoke stack from the furnace of Dr. Tiller's abortion clinic belches out black smoke and the sickening smell of burning flesh. These are the bodies of 7th, 8th and 9th month old babies being "disposed of".

If the Christians in the old man's church had done something, they would have probably been killed. That is not the case with us. We don't even have that as an excuse for our silence.

Years from now will you be like that old man trying to explain your apathy as millions were led away to slaughter in abortion clinics? Or will you raise your voice and cry out in protest for those who have no voice! The choice is YOURS!

"I found myself in anger, I cried out in despair. I prayed, "L-rd let them hear me! Let just one person care!" I raised my voice to heaven as the train kept moving on, as we passed behind the church yard! I could hear the worship songs. I cried out all the louder to the Christians there inside, but they raised the chorus louder not hearing me outside. I knew they heard the whistle and the clacking of the tracks. They knew that I was going to die and still they turned their backs. I said, "Father in heaven how can your people be so very hard of hearing to the cry of one like me? I shouted, "Please have mercy! FACTS ABOUT ABORTION

Fact: In the United States it is legal to abort a baby up until the day of birth.

Fact: In the D&X procedure babies are "partially aborted" so the head is still in the cervix but the body is out. While in this position the live baby is still considered an "abortion" therefore a non-person. The live baby's brains are sucked out and the other organs are harvested and sold to "researchers". The baby receives no anesthesia and is alive until the procedure kills him.

Fact: Every day in America about 4,400 babies die painful deaths by dismemberment, chemical poisoning, lethal injections into the heart, being torn limb from limb and now, being partially delivered and having their brains sucked out and their organs sold.

Fact: Abortion has two victims - the baby and the mother. Many women who have abortions suffer both physically and mentally. Depression, anxiety, grief, infection, sterility and even death are not uncommon as a result of the abortion.

Fact: Only 1% of abortions are performed as a result of rape or incest. Most abortions are done as a form of birth control because the baby is "inconvenient", "too expensive", or a "burden".

Thats fine to. Abstaining from sex or voluntarily having yourself sterilized is a fine option if you feel for any reason you shouldn't procreate. Voluntary being the most important word.

The troubling aspect of the eugenics movement is that it had the support of most of the countries elites. From both sides of the political spectrum. The last head of the eugenics institute located on Long Island quietly resigned after World War Two as the institute foundered. Vannavar Bush was his name.
The elites of this country owe their allegiance only to the others in their class. An occasional Ted Turner, Bill Gates, or Arnold Schwartzeneggar are allowed in for incentive purposes or to allow for an escape valve against rebellion.
John Taylor Gatto's book The Underground History of Public Education goes on for several chapters about this topic.

Ok, this Eugenics business is one of my pet peeves, so to speak. I would like to invite several of my Christian friends who have been charging me with heresy for a while now. I have no reason to doubt that you all are well-intentioned and truly love Jesus.

My own take on Eugenics involves PlannedParenthood and old Margaret Sanger but it goes further because of Chesterton's book EUGENICS AND OTHER EVILS. The bottom line for Chesterton, writng in the 1920's was that Eugenics is an intentional program that has been promoted by the Industrial Capitalists who controled and owned the newspapers as far back as the times around WWI. I hope you all can relate to this discussion.

I think that you are ignoring the ethical and moral issues involved with eugenic programs such as abortion. If an individual chooses to abort a child that does not change the basic moral delema, which is; who can own another human being and have the power to end their life?
