WHICH MCCLINTOCK TO BELIEVE? TOM PROMISED HE WOULDN'T BE A SPOILER
KFI 640 | Matt Garrett

Posted on 10/01/2003 2:01:48 PM PDT by MattGarrett

On today's RECALL CENTRAL on KFI 640, they had the head of the "Lincoln Republicans" of Orange County. He stated that Tom McClintock had assured him that he would not stay in the race to play spoiler if it looked like he couldn't win. He promised that he would bow out before the election if his numbers didn't assure victory.

Other Cal GOP leaders were quoted as saying the same.

And yet, McClintock has vowed to stay in the race to the bitter end.

So, the question is ...

Which McClintock do we believe?

... On the basis of what should Arnold be trusted? ...

First, he's not a stinkin' lyin' politician! Second, he's the better candidate! He has behaved with dignity and honor throughout this campaign. Third, he has never lied to me! He speaks candidly and off the cuff. This is wonderfully refreshing. Fourth, in examination of the debate text he was the most proficient at addressing the questions. Fifth, because I see in him the coming of a new era, much like I saw with Ronald Reagan! I could go on, but I'll skip to number eleventyseven and that is I like Arnie! I made the analogy to Gengis Khan the other day, and I'm standing by it. Let the 'slimes' throw their last minute dirt, Arnie will laugh at it!

The democrap panic here in California is very funny, and very telling. They are incredilby afraid the Arnold, and the republicans, are going to re-capture the middle ground. I say give Arnie a mandate. Help enable real, positive change.

I'm interested in JimR's opinion on these issues as much as I'm interested in anyone's opinion on these issues. Just because he runs the place doesn't necessarily make his opinion more significant than anyone else's. Now, if someone wants to invoke the name and opinion of JimR as a sort of threat...I think even JimR wouldn't approve of that.

And for the record, I've never trashed Tom McClintock (which is the topic of JimR's quoted statement on this thread). I have admittedly trashed some of his supporters here, because they've proven to be uncivil rubes, and I've taken issue with McClintock's qualifications to be Governor, but I've never taken issue with his position on the issues.

Cruz?

That's the bald guy with the same positions as Arnold?

If you believe that, then your choices are still to vote for Arnold or Cruz. You have a chance to be wrong on Arnold. You have no chance that Cruz won't be Cruz. And you have no chance to elect anyone you like better than Arnold, but you can help elect Cruz if you insist on ideological purity.

And last time I checked, Arnold was going to repeal the car tax. He'll appoint Republicans to the bench and to administrative positions, where we are getting all kinds of whacky decisions these days. He won't spend as much as Cruz or Davis, he won't sign crazy bills giving illegal aliens drivers licenses, and so on.

Hey pogo, I think I'll post a thread on Monday asking people to predict what percentage McC will get. Should be interesting. To read the comments here, some are expecting him to get over 50% of the vote.

One thing you won't see from Arnold, is see him disagree with one of his advisors. He just doesn't have the brain power for that. That would be like a blind person not following the guide dog.

Mr. McClintock on the other hand, has knowledge, experience, and above all principles and faith that guide him.

Unfortunately, it is these people who so liberally throw around the "RINO" label at everyone who doesn't quite fit their narrow, specialized view of the world.

I use the "RINO" label for candidates who, with no executive or political experience of their own, do things like seek advisors who are in favor of repealing tax cuts.

I use the "RINO" label for candidates who have said they are ashamed to call themselves Republican.

I use the "RINO" label for candidates who donate money to Democrats.

I use the "RINO" label for candidates who seek the assistance of environmentalist wackos whose life's goal is to destroy the pork industry in America.

Don't you? And if not, why not?

Like I said, that was your assertion. But many of us saw it differently--believing that Bustamante was dead meat from the beginning. Why would the people rise up and throw off the oppressor only to elect the court jester?

And feel free to type as fast or as slow as you want...

Ninety-five percent of the people in the world need to be told what to do and how to behave.”

Sounds like the attitude of most of the "true conservatives" here on FR.

That is the biggest load of crap! Just goes to show that you know nothing about the person as in ZERO. Laughable.

So what's Tom's first act as governor... removing the Ten Commandants from all state property?

You don't even believe that. Nice try.

“My relationship to power and authority is that I’m all for it. People need somebody to watch over them,” he explained. “Ninety-five percent of the people in the world need to be told what to do and how to behave.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger, U.S. News and World Report, 9/15/03; "Washington Whispers," Page 8

Wow. Thanks for the quote.

Put me down for 10 percent if he stays in, 8 percent even if he steps out. His core supporters are diehards, some will give up the dream.

Before this election, I liked McClintock a lot more than I do now, and I liked Issa a lot less than I do now. Issa has shown me two things: 1. Character; and 2. Intelligence. He thinks rationally, and is willing to do what is best for the beliefs that he holds.

Riordan packed his office with Democrats, has Arnold pledged not to appoint Democrats?
