Boycott Target
Mpls. Star Tribune | Tuesday, Sept. 30th, 2003 | mikemurphy111

Posted on 09/30/2003 7:48:57 PM PDT by mikemurphy111

I am hoping to get folks to quit shopping at Target because they sell these awful, dirty, FCUK EWE products at Marshall Field's here in Mpls. For any retailer here in the Heartland to spit on the morals and standards that most of us live by is just unbelievable. Target refuses to follow Federated who dropped this line of Degenerate cosmetics and tee shirts and other clothing after a week of protests from God fearing Christians all over the Midwest. Target says No, we will sell what we want. Well, we consumers who don't want our teen age grandchildren wearing FCUK EWE shirts around the neighborhood will Boycott Target.

I always get a big kick out of white boys that wear FUBU clothing.

IMO it seems you posted it as a political tactic to sway opinion with accusations before it could be refuted. Otherwise you would have mentioned somewhere at the top: "By the way, this is not a true story"

School uniforms!
Nothing like a little regimentation to stamp out those evil thoughts like independence, individuality, and free speech. We don't kids growing up to think for themselves, now do we?

Sure, except that when I do it it's hardly "boycotting."

I just really hate Target.

Their parking lot is a hallucination, their store layout is a nightmare, they NEVER have ANYTHING I want, nothing is competitive about their prices, their service is nonexistent....

Otherwise, great store!

I hate to admit this, but I will - I like Wal-Mart, mainly because I can find everything I want. Its got a predictable layout that makes sense.

To show how hidebound I am, I made a recent trip to our large chain grocery store (which is being remodeled). Couldn't find a thing, and got real churlish over the whole experience. Paper towels need to go where napkins, paper plates and toilet paper are - in PAPER PRODUCTS.

Totally agree, on both counts. WalMart is a wonder; it's astonishing what they have. And decent prices. Sometimes, there are even helpful employees around!

I honestly don't know why the world thinks it needs Target when there are WalMarts around.

HAs anyone actually seen any clothing with the word "FCUK" on it? I've seen the clothing/shoe/jewlry line by them, but nothing with anything remotely obscene on them - nothing with the mispelled F-word or anything...

Am I missing something?

I've seen one or two in Queens, N.Y. But I wouldn't say you've missed anything.

Marshall Field's has been carrying French Connection United Kingdom merchandise for about a year, as this brand has been in high demand with their guests.

Guests? I thought MF was a department store, not a flop house.

Not to mention the fine Chinese products that are available. Thanks to Clinton and Gore, we have a much larger variety of Chinese goods then before. Support your favorite Communist nation, buy Wal*Mart!

"Made in America" stamps are misleading. They are manufactured in China and packed in America. Read the fine print. Also, I do not support Target. I support no department store, I'm just giving everyone a clue as to what you support. I too like Walmart's layout. Maybe local stores will get the hint and do it too.

If you don't want your child wearing these shirts, don't buy them. If your teen buys one, throw it out and inform him/her that you will not tolerate such trash.

Be a parent.

It almost seems as if many of these parents want a utopian society where their kids can freely live without ever facing offensive material or tempting problems and that actually raising a child will no longer be a burden.

Your polluted water analogy is flawed. You have no choice of what comes out of your faucet. And that is a health issue you can address with your local city council.

Well, none of us have a choice, either as to what our local retail stores carry, now do we? What? Or are you trying to tell me we have no choices on water? (I think the companies that sell you water would beg to differ with ya, as would the survivalist/pre-Y2K companies that were selling various means of purifying water). So, your "flawed" angle is faulty on two premises.

Be a parent

Be a parent as part of a broader village. Just 'cause Hillarious attempted to co-opt this term doesn't dilute the fact that we are meant to act in a corporate manner on behalf of our young folks. Western cultures--particularly the US--are the most independent individualistic culture(s) the world has ever known.

It almost seems as if many folks want to make their kids--and others' kids--to be as completely at home in SodomGomorrahland as if it was simply one alternative amusement park among the rest.

Try reading 2 Peter 2 about Lot's reaction to the culture around him. We could use a bit of the distress & soul-torture Lot felt...or do you love excusing away our total desensitization to what mocks God and His good gifts?

the foundations that Targets supports should be enough reason for anyone of conscience to stop shopping there...I personally could care less what they carry, I haven't stepped for in that store for years.
