Boycott Target
Mpls. Star Tribune | Tuesday, Sept. 30th, 2003 | mikemurphy111

Posted on 09/30/2003 7:48:57 PM PDT by mikemurphy111

I am hoping to get folks to quit shopping at Target because they sell these awful, dirty, FCUK EWE products at Marshall Field's here in Mpls. For any retailer here in the Heartland to spit on the morals and standards that most of us live by is just unbelievable. Target refuses to follow Federated who dropped this line of Degenerate cosmetics and tee shirts and other clothing after a week of protests from God fearing Christians all over the Midwest. Target says No, we will sell what we want. Well, we consumers who don't want our teen age grandchildren wearing FCUK EWE shirts around the neighborhood will Boycott Target.

It's on some t-shirts. FCUK in NYC. Vegas., etc. Maybe bags, too. Not sure. I have yet to see it at Target. Not that I care. But it's online several places.

Oh man. That's certainly something to get worked up about. Heck, I have worse t-shirts than that, and there is nothing blatently obscene on them - it's more like what's NOT said on them that is worse ;0)

I don't shop Target already because I find it inferior. But do you know that Mervyn's is owned by the same company also? I am not sure how many states Mervyn's is in, but they are sister stores with Target.

You might want to send their master and one of America's Senators a message though.

When I used to run cross country, I used to wear a t-shirt that read "Distance Runners Keep It Up Longer"... someone with a perverted dirty mind complained to the coach, and I got ordered to never wear it again. I think the complainer was just jealous, personally...

I didn't see the ads, but I inquired of Target if it were so about the ads for FCUK, and "scent to bed".

Here's the response:

Thank you for taking your time to share your thoughts and feelings
regarding Marshall Field's French Connection United Kingdom merchandise and
advertising.

Marshall Field's has been carrying French Connection United Kingdom
merchandise for about a year, as this brand has been in high demand with
their guests. Marshall Field's advertising surrounding the recent launch of
the French Connection fragrance was in no way meant to upset valued Field's
or Target guests.

We apologize if the advertising or these products have offended you. Please
know that we take your feedback seriously and appreciate all of your
concerns. Due to the feedback from yourself and other guests, Marshall
Field's is reevaluating their marketing of the French Connection brand.
Though it will take some time for this change to be apparent, Marshall
Field's executives are in the process of minimizing the use of this brand's
acronym.

We hope that Target and Marshall Field's will continue to be among your
shopping destinations.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Hanson
Group Team Leader
Target Executive Offices

LOL... my brother had a left-wing anti-man teacher in HS. She told him if he really loved my mom and me and respected us he wouldn't wear those Big Johnson shirts. The ones that were so popular in the 90's. Needless to say he had a few choice words for her and ended up with poor grades. Of course discussing that incident will lead me to the public edu topic so I'll stop now. :)

Yeah. I hear ya. I had a few "teachers" like that - the only lessons they ever taught me were ones they didn't intend to, I think. But I will digress, myself, or we'll be here all night exchanging Liberal Teacher Horror Stories ;0)

Wow, I have this sudden urge to buy a FCUK shirt. I didn't before, but I do now.... teenage regression I suppose.

Email a Senator over this? That's absurd!

This is a local issue if ever there was one. And even then, nothing is going to come of it. As morally repugnant as it may be, it is a legal product.

In fact, it's not even a local issue... it's a parenting issue. If parents put their foot down, the sales of these products would plummet and be forever banished to the $1 bin at your local flea market.

It's still a free country. You might want to buy a few so you don't have to wash it frequently if you choose to wear it daily.

I think this generation is highly stimulated. To the point their focus is constantly towards sex and arousal and not able to focus on school work. (my concern was not about the adult, but the innocence of children that are constantly having their innocence stripped by subtle advertizing)

Maybe I'm just old school, there is still the idea that discretion is still the better part of valor.

This isn't rocket science, it really is what it was meant to sound like. FCUK happens when you scent her/him to bed.

Local issue? I think not. Target is a national amrketing outlet. Dayton is a national Senator. This where activism meets the road. Sleep tight, dude.

I just came across a box full of those "Big Johnson" shirts while cleaning my garage. I remember when those were the thing, and suddenly, one day, no one wore them anymore. I don't even remember packing them away.

Mervyn's and Target are sister store, but one cannot pay a Target bill at Mervyn's, and one cannot pay a Mervyn's bill at Target.

LOL

I guess it takes a right-wing pro-man woman to wear a Big Johnson shirt! I wore mine so much it ended up falling apart.

I say if they want to wear a shirt like that, let them. It would make like a whole lot easier if everyone advertised their stupidity on a T-shirt.
