PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Donovan McNabb has been to three straight Pro Bowls and two consecutive NFC championship games, and was runner-up for NFL MVP in his first full season as a starter.
Still, commentator Rush Limbaugh questions his credentials.
Before McNabb led the Philadelphia Eagles to a 23-13 victory over the Buffalo Bills, Limbaugh said on ESPN's Sunday NFL Countdown that McNabb is overrated. The comment contained racial overtones that set off a controversy.

It's just like comments about white boxers always getting a chance to fight the champs, while other black boxers have to work a long time to get the opportunity. That's just the way it is, successful white boxers are fewer and so are promoted more. Remember the movie "Great White Hope"?
But obviously from a football--not a %#@$% political perspective--McNabb did well, and it's just as I expected, that he would bounce back.

Yes, Rush is racist, but so are the rest of us.

I hate to say it as I've always been a fan of Rush, but he was a bit over the top. I was watching that on Sunday and I thought to myself "oh ***t, he didn't really say that did he?" and yes, he did say it. It was over the top and dumb.

Well, they're affiliated with CNN-Time; so I'd say they're pretty darn close.

with Limbaugh on the show this season, ratings for Sunday NFL Countdown are up 10 percent overall, and 26 percent among the 18-to-34 male demographic. Sunday's show drew its biggest audience in the regular season since November 1996.I don't think most football fans are offended. Remember, hard liberals are not the biggest football fans. So much intolerant hitting.
As I said earlier, it's like comparing white boxers and black boxers, which the media does all the time.

Is Rush racist? No, he is not.
He made an observation / opinion about an issue in the NFL that has been simmering for the last several years. Every so often, it gets moved to the front burner, then goes back to simmer status.
This was not a Howard Cossell / Jimmy the Greek type comment in any manner, shape or form.
There is no issue, IMHO, with what Rush said.
Of course, there are lots of folks that will play the race card on this.
Nothing new about that.

Not as dumb as Reid saying McNabb is the best in the business. Though it does say a lot for why the Eagles won't be winning the big one anytime soon.

I don't think he'll make it to the end of this season. I tried watching him, but he's bringing too much politics into the show. I prefer the Fox pregame anyways.

As a Bucs fan, I can agree with you there. McNabb is average to above average at best. But he is not a bust either like Rush said.

Black conservative pingIf you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)
Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.
[As i mentioned, the B/C & JD! lists are going to float into and out of whack over the forseeable future, while I try to cobble a rig back together for myself. My apologies for any incovenience or misunderstandings in this time frame. New signups/removals may be flaky in this time-frame as well; please bear with me, and keep in mind you may have to FReepmail me more than once for me to get it done. Thanks again!]

I do not think Rush is a racist.
But I did not think Howard Cosell was a racist either.
To: Beck_isright
It was over the top and dumb. I didn't see it, but reading his remarks, this is Rush's Jimmy-the-Greek moment.
Why even allude to the guy's race? We've got critics of Quincy Carter here in Dallas, calling him "dumb," and "not instinctive" and "not able to think on his feet."
That's all code, slamming Carter because he's black.

The article says the audience is up 10% and will probably increase with the publicity. I would say he will be back.

Rush can be good. He can also be an idiot. This is the latter. No one can prove McNabb is "overrated" because of his color. It's absolutely subjective. I think Mcnabb gets more attention because of his color, but Limbaugh went further than that. He somehow dissed a guy who has already been to two championship games in a short career. Rush has also been saying wierd stuff on his regular show, about knowing things about the Eagles he can't repeat. I think he's a dope and somebody told him McNaabb is overrated due to colr, and he bought it hook line and sinker.
And his big desire is what? To criticize a private enterprise, the NFL, for wanting to positively promote more blacks?

That "Sports Illustrated"is"Communist" is one Hell of a lot more likely than Rush Limbaugh being a"Racist"!!The"Tolerant Left" is so GOOD at NameCalling!!!!!!!!!
To: mhking
Rush is a lot of things, but I've never considered him a racist.
Leave it to him though to speak against the grain of everyone else and be labelled.
