Arnold Schwarzenegger will be the next Governor because he is not a career politician and the voters of California are staging a rebellion because of the budge crisis.Tom McClintock will not because he alienates more voters than he attracts, or perhaps his supporters alienate more voters than they attract.

It seems that some of us have forgotten that the Republican party has been pro-business and pro-small government for most of its existence. That defined a Republican. Only recently has the social conservative migrated over to the Republican party and made it's issues part of the Republican platform.

Arnold joined the Republican party when its main goal was to encourage business growth and limit governmental growth, so I dare call him a true Republican.

We of the Christian right (myself included) have become Republicans but there are some of us who seem to not espouse the party's heritage.

Bikers: Arnold has established himself as someone who does have frequent sex, has used drugs, and so on and on. Unless we see him do something so beyond the pale as to absolutely nauseate Californians, I think he's done an impressive job innoculating himself against scandal.

Californians are pretty hard to nauseat. We've seen it all around here.

Smoker, the problem with that scenerio is that the recall would most likely fail. I think most Democrats would rather see Davis than McClintock, and they would vote accordingly.

We are actually thinking of polo clubs and yacht basins here and what you call class warfare has a long and honorable history in the GOP. See the anti-Rockefeller struggles in the Northeast, opposition to Weicker's state income tax in Connecticut.

The actual Republicans will be flattered to have you vote against them in a primary. If you did not, then the conservatives would have to double check their premises. Of course, you live in Oklahoma and will have trouble succeeding in electing policy RINOs when your Senate seats are held by actual Republicans and your governorship will be. Try and nominate and elect someone in OKLAHOMA on a platform of supporting baby slaughter, faggot marriages, faggot adoptions of innocent kids, gun control, jacking taxes and spending and supporting affirmative action tools. If you favor such policies, or if you oppose them (not likely since you support Arnold) your opinion does count. If you have no opinions other than a glassy-eyed: "Only Arnold can WIN!!!", that counts too. I can't wait to see you try.

I thought it was primarily the Demonrats who were into slaughtering babies, tax subsidies for lavender "marriages", adoption of innocent children by lavenders, gun control, etc., etc. I was right.

Never thought I would see the day when Republicans (?) criticize people for being successful!

You've never complained about "limousine liberals"?

And running a losing campaign is smart because............?

That's not the issue. The issue is what you have abandoned along the way to reach that goal.

I am formally removing my name as a registered Republican.

I hear that Tom is getting set with his "Revival 2004!" campaign next month.

Well, I never thought I'd see the day when Republicans (?) criticize a candidate for being conservative.

And, I never thought I'd see the day when Republicans (?) criticize a candidate for being pro-life.

But now I have, so go figure...

No, the issue is losing. Why run a campaign that is a sure loser? Is it for martyrdom? People aren't registering to vote for the first time because McClintock is energizing them. Tom isn't drawing crowds of 1000s daily. There is no hope for his campaign and all votes for him are wasted. Is it to teach the GOP a lesson? If so, why is McClintock associated with the GOP in the first place?

-- Republicans are not supposed to be successful?

Of course not.
Success is a sign of compromise and the "death of principles"
Wealth is evil and the rich are too...
Ask any local democrat... or some of our strident McCult followers.
"Class envy" is in vogue amongst them both.

another apriori of the McCult followers is:
"electibility is a sign of a primary failure in ideological purity"
hence to "suffer defeat politically as a martyr on the altar of ideological purity, is a stamp of God's approval"... what amazes me is they have not yet added the requisite 72 virgins that other religious/ideological "martyrs" lay claim to...

In finality, last night I was told that Issa was a felony car theif... and a liar... after he endorsed ARnold.

I would say "destroy them" but they appear to be such a good job themselves... why bother?

Agreed. A dirty little secret that the Republican elites don't like to mention is that they don't subscribe to the social conservatives' politics on abortion, school prayer, etc. any more that the the Democrats' do. It's merely a sop to the Republican religious right to keep them on the team, but neither party has any intention of initiating any dramatic social change.

And now Tom will stab the republicans back? And California too at the same time? The harm to the CA economy and the national economy is an enormous issue if Bustamonte wins.

Does that matter at all?
