I have a great deal of new-found respect for McClintock. Not only was he FANTASTIC, besting everyone else by a mile, but he didn't attack Arnold as I fretted he would. C

Arnold has let his temper get away from him too much. In Arnold's defense(and I'm a McClintock backer), sometimes a little fire is needed.

I've got no children. If I did, I would be removing them from this sorry state. The wrong thing is risking more years of Grey Davis. I could not care less if you agree or not. Davis must go. Anything else is a waste of time.

Who won? Mary Carey made $2600 over at "Jumbo's Clown Room".
To: Chantal
she got mad when Arnold confronted her on not paying taxes....well....LOL..too funny She expected a passive Arnold, clumsy her!
To: Bonaparte
It was hilarious, though, when he answered the question about the deficit by saying, "well, we spent too much." I had to laugh. "No kiddin, Busty? You mean you put us down in this hole by spending too much, not by saving too much? Gee, thanks for tellin' me!" I would have liked for somebody, on the infrastructure question, to point out that the only legitimate reasons for deficit spending are emergencies and capital expenditures. Was it Huffington who complained that capital expenditures would take too much money away from socialist programs?

I'm always amused at the elites with their megamillions who won't just shell out the cash for their pet projects themselves. Has philanthropy gone out of vogue?

In Arnold's defense(and I'm a McClintock backer), sometimes a little fire is needed. How could you not fire back at that annoying Zsa Zsa bitch?!?!

This was a chance to stop the slide. The state party will continue to move left, and guys like TM won't.It still isn't too late to stop the slide, but when FReepers who proudly claim to be conservative Republicans fall all over themselves to support a man more liberal than many Democrats in Congress, it is getting awfully near midnght.
I do not believe McClintock will shift or bend to the demands of the mob. For his courage and coolness despite the vicious and unjust attacks on his character, there are few men living I have come to respect as much as I have McClintock.

Bustamante is only getting, at best, 2/3 of the Democrat vote (the Democrat vote being an outright majority in California, and Bustamante only polling at around 32%). There are plenty of Democrats who have not been energized to vote for him, and Arnold is probably drawing a decent chunk. I don't have data, but it is not a bad supposition to assume that some of those Bustamante is not are union rank-and-file, not following their union leaders (it is a regular consticuency where Democrats lose votes in elections).
I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it, but I agree with Ambrose that this will likely be the point of the debate that RATS turn to in order to get a little "red meat" at the end. They have no other place to get it out of this debate, and really, Arnold didn't need to give them even this. It was an easy red flag to see.
It seems subtle to us -- but as one who grew up in a union family, and is surrounded by union neighbors, it doesn't take much to get them riled up, they all live their lives concerend that the "wrong kind" of Republicans are trying to make workers into slaves to companies. They won't let it be subtle: the D's are pouring over the debate with a fine tooth comb looking for something that they can demagogue. And this is what they'll come up with.
To: incindiary
did anyone see how Bustamante totally talked down to her a couple times? He is smug and condescending. He really is a little man. A cowardly Dimo mechanic. In a sane society he would be pumping gas and washing windshields at the local service station.
To: auboy
I wish they would get together and create a team.

Or recalled? :-P

IMHO, Tom won the battle big time, and Ah-nold won the war.
Our boys done good!
Cruz: "We spent too much"
Green Lefty: ranted about how you would expect
Arianna: Made a complete jackass of herself. The consensus is that now everyone understands why her ex-husband went at least 50% gay.
Moderator: More clueless than Admiral Stockdale
To: DaughterOfAnIwoJimaVet
The Republicans won, imo. Which one?
To: Conservababe
Who won? McClintock all the way, IMHO. He sure knocked the illegal immigration question out of the park. (Disclaimer: I'm a McClintock supporter.)
Arnold held up well, especially under relentless, pointless, idiotic attacks by Ariana Huffington. Many others probably feel he was the winner.
To: You Dirty Rats
Cybering with the famous but annoying ex-girlfriend or something? Which one would that be? Oh....that one. Nope. Haven't spoken to her since I turned her down. She does have her own radio show, I guess, so that's kinda cool. I was just checking this thread before I hit the rack. Which I'm doing now.
