In 1976, I refused to be drawn into the "vote for the lesser of two evils". Knowing that the Rockerfeller Republicans had captured the party and would continue to control it unless Ford was defeated. I and many republicans voted for Carter or set the election out. If we had actually voted for Ford and elected him, Ronald Reagan would never have happened. It was only because the Lefists in the party were soundly trounced in the 76 election and the democrats were totally disgraced by that total idiot, Carter, that RR was able to be nominated and then elected in 1980. I say let the dems have California and lead it to ruin for another 2 years. That is the only chance for California to wake up and return to conservative values. With the departure of another 100,000 bright and capable people from California, there will be so little revenue that they will have to drastically reduce welfare and government salaries and pensions. Many of the welfare recipients will begin to leave California for states (or foreign countries, i.e, Mexico) because they will not be able to subsist in California. Sure it will bring the state to its knees but all addicts must be brought down before they give up on their addiction. Vote for McClintock and let the chips fall where they may.

Arianna was passionate.

Is the President 'feeding at the public trough', because he takes his paycheck? Just seems like a cheap shot. Oh well.
To: Afronaut
Well, the 3-panel judge fix was definately in.. but that's been reversed. What else has he got?
To: lainie
Yeah, I knew Arianna wouldn't disappoint so far as giving us enough obnoxious material to insult her with...
To: section9
Nah, the fix is in. Tom trained his guns squarely on Bustamante tonightIf McClintock plays his cards the way I think, he will swiftly throw his support behind Arnold. He established National bona fides tonight, and if he steps aside for the party, it will not be forgotten by the powers that be.!!
To: Afronaut
I would respectfully disagree, Cruz "We Spent Too Much" Bustamante put the big knife in Gray's spine tonight.
To: section9
Cruz lost big. Believe me, he impressed no one with his passive style and his condescension towards Arnold Passive aggressive. Like a neon sign crackling and popping. His condescension was a major failure. He reminded me of a scorned brat.

FO:"I think the moderator is incompetent for the moderator's job. He is letting Arianna and Cruz get away with off topic discussions and personal attacks. "
GP: "It's your story. Tell it any way you want. The rest of us know better."
Do you think the FR Admin Modertors could have shut up Arianna? ;)
To: Pukin Dog
You sound like a CNN report from Iraq.
Everyone cowered in thier homes, in fear of their government.
They feared to talk amongst themselves.
They would be killed if the government suspected they did not worship the official party line.
I have a very limited capacity for compassion in the face of willfull ignorance, despite the undeniable face of a socialist vision of reality.
Vote for your leader, again.
Do not expect me to mourn your bad choices.
You are free, so far.

Only if you buy in to it....Arnold is the man for the job.
we need someone with backbone, someone who won't lay down like a dog....GO ARNOLD..
To: kingu
He is the kind of "tough love" the state needs.Although I admire him for stating his positions on abortion and the 2cd amendment the wackos in the state were horrified. He should have been less blunt about those positions. This is California after all.

Clinton isn't that powerful. If he was, President Gore would be in the U.N. pleading for a resolution asking Osama Bin Laden to stop picking on us.

"How do you do that? Did I miss the California Lt. Gov. Recall? Or did Busted resign?"
NO WAY! Busted stays if he loses?
I would ask for Cruz's resignation letter and bring in my own team.
Template Resignation Letters
Schwarzeneggar Gov./McClintock Lt. Gov. Problem solved!

Knowing that the Rockerfeller Republicans had captured the party and would continue to control it unless Ford was defeated. I and many republicans voted for Carter or set the election out. Stupid p****s.
Do you have the first foggy remembrance what the Carter economy did to millions of American families, what it did to interest rates, the cost of bringing the military back up to par, or any of the crap you idiots wrought?

Unortunately, I think Mulholland is waiting to open his bag of tricks when McClintock withdraws and will then take aim at Arnold in the last days before the election.
To: kingu
My take is Arnold walked away with the leadership trophy tonight, Tom won the ideas consolation prize, and the three socialists fought for the loser's corner. I think two things stand out after the debate tonight: 1) In all likelihood Arnold will be our next Governor and 2) Large Breasts lost the election right then and there when he said he thought the recall was a terrible idea and tied his fortunes in to the most loathed Governor in California history. You don't do that if you want to win an election. And the bottom line no one on the panel defended Gray Davis or thought California was in good shape. When even the Lefties concede on points one and two of the bottom line, every one knows the game is over. As much as I adore Tom McClintock, let's face it, he's not going to win but he has set himself up brilliantly for a run for a future office. If he can rid of that accountant/college prof manner when he's in front of an audience, I don't see how he can not do well. In all other respects, he's the dream conservative candidate who can deliver an unvarnished conservative message without looking extreme to the middle. But from here out on for the rest of this recall election campaign, its Arnold's to lose.
