How come you you speak German and Swiss-German but not French and Swiss-French? No Italian? How would you say 80? LOL!!! I learned French the old fashioned way so I actually say quatre-vingt! Never could handle the ottante!! Not much Italian, and no Romansch either!

The calm Cruz affected was an interesting side by side counterpoint to Arianna's hysteria. Made her look even worse, if that's possible.Danged if that ain't right on!

Where have I been? I live right around here and talked to a Colfax resident this -pm.
I checked with the AJ paper and there was nothing. And I didn't hear anything on the news. I've been watching the debate.
We had some bad fires last year. Hope this isn't a re-run.
I'll be checking now.
Thanks for letting me know.

I missed da Mayor but your comments do point out the absurdity of the situation. I agree.
To: GOPrincess
Is it erroneous?
Check your own six.
Rnold is not Reagan.
Ya'll have completely lost your minds out there.

And then Ceci Connolly parrots his every statement later on Greta's show. How sad. Nobody else noticed (I believe) that the moderator called Arianna "Ms. Camejo" at one point, have they?

Thank you, sir. Coming from you, it counts for a lot.
My take: Arnold did what he had to do, stay in the game by remaining the charismatic Big Dog. He also did a good Howard Beale by remaining as an outraged citizen who wants to do the Mr. Smith goes to Washington routine. I think Arnold's objective was to reassure the electorate, and he did that tonight.
McClintock can write his ticket, imho, IF he finds a way to nail down the base (which he has done admirably-there will be no more competition from Bill Simon on the right, and I don't think Daryl Issa can compete with him for the base vote, either) and reach out to the center at the same time.
The key for McClintock is to do what Bush did nationally on abortion: remain pro-life but insist that people of good will can disagree. Bush used it masterfully to neutralize what the Dems thought to be a vulnerability on Bush's part with women. McClintock needs to do the same when he goes to the state next year.
Cruz lost big. Believe me, he impressed no one with his passive style and his condescension towards Arnold (who was wise not to rise to the bait). "Gee, I guess we did spend too much" didn't exactly fire up the base vote, now did it. I just don't see Dems running to the polls to save Grayout's ass, or his.
Peter Camejo and Arianna? Pustules on the running sore of life. While Arnold shouldn't have bickered with that Hildebeast Wannabe, her yapping did give him the opportunity for the soundbite of the night, the "Terminator 4" line.
TMC's problem is that he's got to get past being head of the Cargo Cult to actually WIN a statewide election. I know he did extremely well last time out, but he did not win. That's what counts.
A lot of Tom's potential will have to do with how Bush does over the next year. If the economy tanks and Iraq goes sour, there will be a lot of Republican blood on the floor. Tom won't get past first base. I don't think that will happen. I think the economy will grow nicely and the insurgency in Iraq will be reduced over time. Bush's numbers can only improve from here, imho. And as they do, Tom's chances will, as well.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

"I really like Tom McClintock." So does Cruz Bustamante. Even Arnold likes Tom. Arnold said he looks forward to working with Tom in Sacramento.
Tom's a popular guy, considering he only at 18%. :-)

Gray Davis won this debate. Recall will fail. The End! Er, he is at least 10-15 points behind in most polls. This is going to be overcome in two weeks?
To: ambrose
An earlier FR post mentioned that BustaMecha said he couldn't give the money back because it was already spent on the commercials.
To: DoughtyOne
I guess even Bustamante got tired of Arianna's shrill drivel...no more adoring looks from her to him. (I could swear that at the beginning of the debate she was trying to flirt with the slug.)
To: Mad_Tom_Rackham
MadClintock and Bustamante both take a pledge to allow their Indian patrons to build tons of casinos, 24-7 "peri-natal" abortion clinics and "The New You" cloning labs. It's no wonder you have a screen name based on your hero MadClintock. Your yawn basically sums up your achievements as well.
To: EternalVigilance
To each his own...... That's mine and you have yours.....
To: SteveH
McClintock did not Aattck of even make eye contact with Arnold. That is something to remember after tonight. Not too much being said...

Just curious, *if* this were a dead heat between TMac and Arnold, who would you vote for?
-Stew -
I've seen too many well meaning guys like Tmac absolutely screw up projects of every size, --- by ~insisting~ that only they know the one true way..
Thats just a gut feeling about the man, never having met him..
So, I'll take the easy way out, and vote for the personable clown.. Arnie can't hurt CA any worse than Jesse hurt Minn..
